M3 vulcanite

Recommended Posts

A timely application of superglue will stick the piece back on and seal the edge to stop the vulcanite lifting further. No need to panic, vulcanite was always hard, and it always cracked, even when relatively new. It is something that is almost inevitable for a camera that's used, but sticking bits back on and sealing the broken edge could make it last for another fifty years.

Mine started to crack round the asa reminder dial after a few years, I remember several attempts with contact adhesive, epoxy etc before finding something that worked. I think it was superglue, still ok after another 30 yraars plus :-)
