LeicaBraz Posted January 28, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 28, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) A corner of the vulcanite covering has peeled off. Is there any particular glue recommended to stick it back? Thanks
Advertisement Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Hi LeicaBraz, Take a look here M3 vulcanite. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
friedeye Posted January 29, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 29, 2014 If it's the original vulcanite, you're in rapid deterioration mode. It's only a matter of time before more will start to flake and peel off. Time to visit cameraleather.com.
250swb Posted January 29, 2014 Share #3 Posted January 29, 2014 A timely application of superglue will stick the piece back on and seal the edge to stop the vulcanite lifting further. No need to panic, vulcanite was always hard, and it always cracked, even when relatively new. It is something that is almost inevitable for a camera that's used, but sticking bits back on and sealing the broken edge could make it last for another fifty years. gyoung Posted January 29, 2014 Share #4 Posted January 29, 2014 Mine started to crack round the asa reminder dial after a few years, I remember several attempts with contact adhesive, epoxy etc before finding something that worked. I think it was superglue, still ok after another 30 yraars plus :-) Gerry Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
