Advertisement Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Hi Guest Olof, Take a look here Which Telyt do you recommend for a M8 ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lars_bergquist Posted April 21, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 21, 2007 I have got good results with the Telyt-V 1:4/200 mm. This of course works out on the M8 to a little less that 270 mm, equivalent – and I doubt that you would want to lug anything bigger and heavier, unless you are a long-gone birdwatcher. The 200 is easily the best 200 I have ever worked with, with a high level of colour correction. It is perfectly useable wide open. BTW, don't buy a 58 mm filter for it without trying it out on the lens first, many makes have a too shallow threaded part for it to fit. If Leica still offer that size, that may fit. Also, you do need the OUBIO or 16466 adapter, as the 200 is a 39 mm screw-mount lens designed for the deeper Visoflex I. The OUBIO has its own, well-balanced tripod mount, and a catch so that you can swing the lens and camera 90° around the optical axis. spydrxx Posted April 21, 2007 Share #3 Posted April 21, 2007 What are you planning to take pictures of? I would think that would dictate your choice.
carstenw Posted April 21, 2007 Share #4 Posted April 21, 2007 The 280/4.8 late version is the sharpest among the Telyt-V lenses, but several are good performers in the middle. I have the 280, and it is a really nice lens.
waterlenz Posted April 21, 2007 Share #5 Posted April 21, 2007 The 280/4.8 late version is the sharpest among the Telyt-V lenses, but several are good performers in the middle. I have the 280, and it is a really nice lens. I have this too; it is very nice. The 400/6.8 is recommended for reach.
ho_co Posted April 21, 2007 Share #6 Posted April 21, 2007 I second Tom's choice of the 400/6.8 if you want to go that long. With its late model shoulder grip it is handholdable, and managable with the earlier grips. The 560/6.8 becomes a bit unwieldy in my opinion.
telyt Posted April 21, 2007 Share #7 Posted April 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) The 560/6.8 becomes a bit unwieldy in my opinion. However if you include a monopod in the setup it's a very useful lens.

innerimager Posted April 22, 2007 Share #9 Posted April 22, 2007 the 400/6.8 is the only one I have...and it's my current favorite of the telyts! ;>) but seriously, it's a lovely and most useable lens.....Peter
luigi bertolotti Posted April 23, 2007 Share #10 Posted April 23, 2007 If you do not need supertele shooting, 200 f4 or 280 f4,8 are the right choices: both not too costly, portable, fre-hand usable with some attention (the 200 needs OUBIO adapter, and this can disturb if you have not it). In my opinion, if You have and use some 135 on M8, go for 280, if limited to 90, take a 200. And do not forget that Your Viso opens also You to macro use of M8. Guest Lotw Posted June 23, 2007 Share #11 Posted June 23, 2007 I just bought the Telyt 280/4.8 latest version and was stunned by the quality of a handheld exposure, with Visoflex 3 on M8. lars_bergquist Posted June 23, 2007 Share #13 Posted June 23, 2007 I agree that the first generation 90mm Elmarit is great for macro. Unscrew the lens head, screw it into the Universal Focusing Helical (OTZFO/16464) and the thing focuses from infinity to 50cm, a 16471 extension ring will take you even closer. And mind you, that old Elmarit is a very nice 90mm lens even with its own focusing unit! The 280 does perform more or less like the 200, but it is H-E-A-V-Y.
