Advertisement Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Hi rramesh, Take a look here 2014 - Possibly a big year for Leica. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

marknorton Posted January 10, 2014 Share #83 Posted January 10, 2014 And they won’t reach that goal by cranking out more rangefinder cameras. Inevitable comparisons with Porsche who could not grow their market share by relying on the 911 which is roughly the same age as the M. I said roughly. Perhaps the T will be Leica's equivalent of an SUV. Whether the world needs a new lens mount at this point is a question worth asking. I'm not in their target market though. Just as I have zero interest in a Cayenne, Panamera or Macan, I can't see me being interested in a T given my investment in M (and R) lenses. I'm going to put my name down though for a pair of M to T and R to T lens adapters. Given Leica's recent inability to get product to market, about 2018 would be my guess. Does make me wonder whether the M will eventually be left to wither on the vine with no innovation and no support; the advantage of a T is that they would not be battling for compatibility with lenses designed for a mount which is about as old as the transistor. hamey Posted January 10, 2014 Share #85 Posted January 10, 2014 I was told yesterday, to celebrate it's 100 years, Leica could be releasing in stainless steel a Leica M... and some other items. Ken.
algrove Posted January 11, 2014 Share #86 Posted January 11, 2014 Now I know why the R-M adapter is coming out so slowly, they are making just 100 this year!

vipan Posted January 12, 2014 Share #88 Posted January 12, 2014 while i have been admiring leica products for many years, i have been using a canon ef and sony nex system because i was so used to auto focus. many concerned leica users have posted concerns that sony might snatch market share with their a7/a7r. instead, i'm suggesting that 2014 might be a good year for leica thanks to sony's very limited selection of full frame prime lenses. i replaced my nex7 with the a7r, and also bought both prime lenses 35mm/2.8 and 55mm/1.8. as fan of ultrawide lenses i added the leica 21mm/3.4, my first manual lens. i loved the pictures through leica glass so much, that i added 28mm, 35mm, 50mm and 90mm to my collection. with half a dozen m lenses it didnt make sense NOT to have the camera body these lenses were built for, so i also bought the m240. leica m and sony a7r are a great combination! add the voigtlander vm-e lens adapter to the a7r and you can take close ups down to 15cm instead 50cm! throughout 2014 into 2015 sony's selection of decent prime lenses is still very limited, and i hope many a7/a7r users will pickup a few leica lenses. only a profitable company can be a sustainable company. janki Posted January 12, 2014 Share #89 Posted January 12, 2014 Just curious, where would the T stand for in 'Leica T Typ....'??? “By using modern production methods, and by choosing solid materials in a single integrated design, the T-model will help to modernize the company and bring the product to the masses.” Well, this is an easy rewriting of a quote taken from a book about a completely different product than the “photographic apparatus”. Which product do you think the quote refers to?
algrove Posted January 12, 2014 Share #90 Posted January 12, 2014 Probably Henry Ford way back when.
janki Posted January 12, 2014 Share #91 Posted January 12, 2014 Yes, - this was said about the Ford T-model, - also called Tin Lizzie. Perhaps it is some of the ideas of Henry Ford that led to Ford's Model-T, which has inspired Leica. Need for modern mass production and 1% market share, we've heard about. Simple, solid and intuitive designs likewise. Ford believed that a vehicle should have its own propulsion, so you did not have to switch horses. But I hope Leica Model T is going to be a camera with interchangeable lenses, and not a new version of X Vario.

There are no horses involved; that much I can reveal. And “Simple, solid and intuitive designs” sounds about right.
dickgrafixstop Posted January 13, 2014 Share #94 Posted January 13, 2014 2014 will be an "interesting" year for all camera makers as technology marches forward. It would certainly appear that Leica's focus is (and perhaps, should be) on larger rather than smaller cameras (and margins).

FPB Posted January 13, 2014 Share #96 Posted January 13, 2014 ...... Does make me wonder whether the M will eventually be left to wither on the vine with no innovation and no support; the advantage of a T is that they would not be battling for compatibility with lenses designed for a mount which is about as old as the transistor. I don't fear the M or M system will be left without support once a "T" is there. If the T mount with AF capability can also hold manual M glass, the next M could feature a renewed M mount with AF capability and use the T glass in crop mode. And maybe also S glass. All with the CMOSIS 70MP sensor..... Call it integrated system.... Just dreaming.... Bill

Bill Humour accepted but why do people desire such monstrous XXMP sensors, do they need to print to the size of the world? It's all about who's got a bigger one? Great, but your lenses then all need to be replaced because the current ones are worse than useless. It's a good way though for the camera companies to sell us all something that we don't need.
