digibob Posted April 20, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted April 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, just to be sure when i purchase an M8 tomorrow that it is an updated model. What should i be looking for in the way of a serial number ? should it have the latest software upgrade and any other advise would be most welcome. I'm also going for a 35 mm sumicron lens as a starter.Hoping for a response at such a late hour is optomistic but reading the posts on this forum seems most contributors are that way inclined and i have gleaned heaps from the many threads. cheers to all rob. Advertisement Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Hi digibob, Take a look here to be sure..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted April 20, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted April 20, 2007 It's tough to correlate serial numbers with dates, current production is over 10000 (311xxxx) but you could check the firmware level which should be 1.092 or 1.102. If not 1.102, you can download the firmware and upgrade. Â Good choice of lens as a starter, 35mm is the new "standard". Hope you enjoy the camera.
