Stop Motion Video / Sequences

I would love to do sequences with my Leica M, for example a picture every 10 seconds on a tripod that i can later stitch together with Quicktime or Final Cut to a stop motion movie.

Is there a way other than me pressing the button every 10 seconds?

My idea is to collect hundreds of pictures over hours, for a dramatic sunset for example.

Hope you can help, thanks!

You can use the Apple Mac Image Capture software (installed as standard on all modern Macs), together with the MF grip to do time lapse photography. It works best with JPEG’s but you can also use compressed DNG’s. Surprisingly and disappointingly Leica’s own Image Shuttle does not support this - not impressed!

Have a look at posts 21 through 29 in this thread: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m-type-240/273141-does-image-shuttle-have-time-lapse-2.html

If you want to try this technique, you might consider starting with something less complex, from the perspective of change in exposure over time, than a sunset.

Cheers

Image Capture is not flawless either. It started a discussion on the Boinx.com website. Boinx makes iStopmotion, timelapse software for Mac.

They use Image capture as their underlying framework to do the capturing. Maybe others are also interested in testing this iStopmotion package and let us know what their experiences are.

BTW, I used a 2009 MacPro with USB 2.0 ports.

The funniest thing is, the camera itself has an USB port, but really crippled.

Why it is not possible to transfer files, and use it for other purposes than EVF?

Edited: ...I just realized this is not an USB port.

If you mean the video/microphone port, it is not USB even though its socket may be the same as some varieties of USB.
