Albert Andersen Posted December 31, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 31, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi. Are there anybody there have experience with the baseplate with the door for changing battery and card without removing the baseplate. If so, your experience will be much appreciated. Thank you, and Happy New Year to all.
Advertisement Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Hi Albert Andersen, Take a look here Bottum plate from Luigi. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
hossain Posted December 31, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 31, 2013 There are many threads in this forum that you might find useful. The one you are after is this I believe?: M-mate + Special Case with the cut-out for the battery door at the bottom. I have the Luigi case without the cut-out at the bottom. But, I like it that way. For what it's worth, this was my order. I am sure others with the model you are after will chime in.
Albert Andersen Posted December 31, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted December 31, 2013 It is not the cace but the baseplate I am looking for.
hossain Posted December 31, 2013 Share #4 Posted December 31, 2013 Ahh ok, my apology. I found this thread, and this thread, in case any help ... Have a lovely new year. Regards,
jaapv Posted December 31, 2013 Share #5 Posted December 31, 2013 But I very much doubt that Luigi offers one that fits the M. The threads Hossain refers to are for the M8/9/MM.
hossain Posted December 31, 2013 Share #6 Posted December 31, 2013 Good point Jaapv, after reading your comment I have undertaken a navigational roller-coster ride through Master Luigi's iconic site and found few images of M (typ 240) with his M-Mate baseplates: Luigi's M-Mate for M 240 - 1 Luigi's M-Mate for M 240 -
jdlaing Posted December 31, 2013 Share #7 Posted December 31, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) He has one for the M. It is called the M-Mate-M. It works very well and comes in black or silver. I love it.

I was going to ask Luigi this, but since you have one, do you think it is equivalent to the Leica baseplate in terms of weather proofing/resistance? jaapv Posted January 1, 2014 Share #11 Posted January 1, 2014 Well, it does lack the gasket and that door does not look exactly watertight…
jdlaing Posted January 1, 2014 Share #12 Posted January 1, 2014 I was going to ask Luigi this, but since you have one, do you think it is equivalent to the Leica baseplate in terms of weather proofing/resistance? Not quite. The one thing missing is the plastic insert with the rubber gasket for the memory card. I notice there is no gasket on the original plate for the battery. Only the card. On a positive note the quality is extremely nice and the fit is tight with the door having a little lip and positive latch. I would call it splash proof but not water tight. But neither is the rest of the body.
jaapv Posted January 1, 2014 Share #13 Posted January 1, 2014 And if you go into adverse conditions you can always use the original plate.
jdsheepdog Posted January 1, 2014 Share #14 Posted January 1, 2014 Well, it does lack the gasket and that door does not look exactly watertight… My impression as well. I did find it a pain with my M8 getting the camera out of it's tight fitting case to charge the battery, and the utility of the base plate door would be welcome. A USB charging and data transfer socket would be an even more welcome addition to the camera, and more easily splash proofed than a constantly opening and closing flap, or constantly removed baseplate. Of all of the issues of film, having to take the camera apart to "load" and "unload" it, is one that could be done away with without regret. There is of course also the issue of warranty with an after market item. I will see what Luigi (or his daughter) has to say about it all. BTW, I hope he never submits to the pressure to make his website more "rational." It is crazy, wonderful, and very, very Italian.
