lucerne Posted December 30, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 30, 2013 Maybe a stupid question ... but as a digital Leica newbee I wonder why it isn't possible to order an M9 à la carte? Kindest regards, Filip Welcome. Allow me to make an educated guess that the reason is that the M9 is a discontinued product and therefore not in the product catalogue. There have been some specials, but at a very inflated price! Happy shooting in 2014.
pfhrased Posted December 31, 2013 Share #3 Posted December 31, 2013 Buy an M9/P - send it to Leica and ask them to make it à la carte. This is how my M9-P turned out; I had the matching strap made, but my Leica dealer has had to order a second one for me, because one of the leather retaining rings fell off as soon as I got it - it wasn't evenly cut, so the stitching came apart. It cost me the better part of 750NZD to get the cladding and strap done, while the sensor was being replaced under warranty. FYI they will suggest not to use the plain leather types, because the leather will sink into screw holes on the body, which is why I ended up with the structured leather. I believe that the M9 to M9-P upgrade costs something like 1200-1500 euro depending on options, and it's possible that the engraving could be customised when this is ordered. Best have your local dealer make enquiries.
jaapv Posted December 31, 2013 Share #4 Posted December 31, 2013 Leica will engrave the camera on request, fit a-la-carte leather at a price and happily sell you an a-la-carte strap.
Filip Meutermans Posted December 31, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted December 31, 2013 Engrave the camera on request, new leather ... so everyting is possible ... Do I have to send it by my local dealer or directly to Solms? I guess the waiting list is long, very long ...

Do I have to send it by my local dealer or directly to Solms? I guess the waiting list is long, very long ... Only took a couple of weeks to have my sensor and the cladding done. I had it sent via my local dealer, and they did a good job of managing the process.
thighslapper Posted January 5, 2014 Share #7 Posted January 5, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm sure I read somewhere a while ago that because of the pressure on M production requests for a la carte for the digital M's was on hold....... Maybe now they are catching up with orders you will stand a chance ....... I know several forum members enquired about special order silver chrome MM's (as I have one) and were politely refused ......
