keithlaban.co.uk Posted December 29, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted December 29, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, is anyone using the Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 on an M240? I'd be interested in how well it performs, how easy is it to focus with the EVF and also recommendations for an adaptor. Â TIA
Advertisement Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Hi keithlaban.co.uk, Take a look here Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 on M240. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jip Posted December 29, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted December 29, 2013 Recommended adapter would be the adapter by novoflex, I don't have experience with the lens though...
mmradman Posted December 29, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted December 29, 2013 Nikkor should work fine attached with good quality F-M adapter, after all it is SLR lens just like Macro Elmarit 60mm which is coded in M typ 240. Â I have both Micro Nikkor 55mm f2.8 AiS and Macro Elmarit 60mm, used both on Nikon DSLR and Elmarit is the better of the two. Reason I keep Nikkor is to use it with Nikon PB6/PS6 bellows & slide copier.
Universalb50 Posted December 29, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted December 29, 2013 I'm surprised to hear that. I have no experience with this Elmarit 60, but the Micro Nikkor was a ver well regarded lens in it's time?
keithlaban.co.uk Posted December 29, 2013 Author Share #5 Â Posted December 29, 2013 Folks, many thanks for your contributions. Please keep 'em coming. I used a Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 for many years on Nikon film cameras. It was a superb lens, probably the sharpest macro lens available at the time. Fast forward 30+ years, I'm wondering if this lens still performs superbly on FF digital cameras and in particular the M240 and in comparison to the Leica M and R macro lenses? farnz Posted December 30, 2013 Share #7  Posted December 30, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Surprised? I suggest you try Macro Elmarit 60mm and draw your own conclusions. …and then try the 100/2.8 APO-Macro-Elmarit-R, which is better again. (I'm in no way disrespecting the 60 Elmarit, which is a superb lens, but I am fortunate to possess both and the 100 APO quietly places the 60 in the shade.)  Pete. jaques Posted December 30, 2013 Share #8 Â Posted December 30, 2013 I have used the lens on the M and it works great (as do many old Nikkors). I just got a cheap but solid adapter off ebay and have no problems with it. You can see a few test shots I took using it here: Â http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m-lenses/253049-view-through-older-glass-80.html

I didn't think I'd ever have another use for her but didn't have the heart to get rid of the old girl.  I'll buy an adapter. Thanks again  Keith

keithlaban.co.uk Posted January 7, 2014 Author Share #14  Posted January 7, 2014 A quick update.  I bought a Pixco adaptor (£32 from eBay) and I'm delighted with the performance of this classic vintage lens on the M240. Interestingly and after all these years this lens is still available new from Nikon. So glad I didn't sell mine.
uhoh7 Posted January 9, 2014 Share #15 Â Posted January 9, 2014 Some feel this is the sharpest lens ever made by nikon, including AF glass. It was still in production in 2011, not sure about today. Â It is fantastic not only close but at infinity as well. They are cheap, and the equally great AI 55/3.5 even cheaper. 50-60USD for a perfect one. keithlaban.co.uk Posted January 9, 2014 Author Share #16  Posted January 9, 2014 I shot most of my stock using this Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8. To this day I'm still staggered how sharp it is when I view the published work I made with this lens.  Introduced in 1979 and yet still available new at around £625 (GBP). Almost sold my great condition example for £120 last year but a little voice told me to keep it.  I must pay heed to the voices in my head. I must pay heed to the voices in my head.
