Ravinj,

Thanks for your comment.

To be honset, thanks to the strong wind in that day as such I could make it and I'm not sure if to be able to duplicate the outcomes again.

Therefore, I post other three images taken at the same site.

Best Regards,

Thomas Chen

Thomas, exposure and aperture of your beautiful pictures of waves ? Thanks

Henry

A7r & Leica APO Elmarit R 100mm f2.8 & Novoflex Adaptor.

No PP -shot in RAW & Jpeg. These are Jpegs off the camera.

I'm heading back to Africa next week and really looking forward to trying out the Sony in the field with the V/E 105-280mm & APO280mm f4. I will be posting images from there.

These are of my 2 French cats Ronaldo and Beluga with the Leica APO Elmarit R 100mm f2.8. The uncompressed versions of these images are impressive.

Like Karl-Heinz and several others here, I'm still getting to know this camera. So far I'm really pleased with the results I'm getting with this combination of the A7r & R lenses.

The ergonomics work well for me, uncomplicated and hassle free.

Thanks Mike. Those are amazing images of your impressive cats.

Obviously, all your years in Africa have paid handsomely off for taking photos of your domestic wildlife as well. ;)

Those are terrific shots and I am looking forward to your images from Africa.

Thanks again and good luck.

Henry,

The exposure time and ISO settings are as follows, aperture are between f/8 to f/16.

654.jpg: 1" & ISO 100

713 : 1/6" & ISO 50

770 : 1/6" & ISO 50

710 : 1/3" & ISO 50

725 : 1/8" & ISO 50

713 : 1/8" & ISO 50

The exposure time determines the shape of wave trail. Polarizer & ND filters and aperture & ISO setting control the shutter speed. 1200 zones metering for A7r is quite accurate for proper expsoure.

In fact there is no science for shooting of this sort, I've to try a number of exposure time settings to get what it looks fine, it is really a 'try and error" process.

Best Regards,

Thomas Chen

Images taken last evening at and near the Trexler Nature Preserve, Schnecksville, PA. All images taken with my A7r and my R 28mm f2.8 Elmarit V2 lens. Images shot at ISO 100 at varying shutter speeds, and most at f stop of f8 or around for DOF. Last image taken near the Trexler Nature Preserve about 25 minutes after sunset for 3.5 seconds. All images processed in LR5.3 using LR tools including Grad filters for the last 2 images.

Mike,

Cute cats and excellent images! Thanks for sharing.

With APO Elmarit R 100mm f2.8 and Novoflex Adaptor on the A7r, do you put the camera direct onto the bolt of a ballhead or a quick release plate. Please advise. Thanks.

Best,

Gents - Thanks for sharing all these nice images and it is very helpful to see how these assorted Leica lenses work on the A7®.

I have posted a few samples of Sony A7 + Leica Summilux 50MM ASPH at various apertures on my flickr photostream, capturing both corner (upper right) and center results at close range. A non-scientific "test" and operator error cannot be ruled out.

Hopefully they will be of some use.

Here are two shots and their crops from A7R + APO-Extender-R 1.4x + APO-Telyt-R 280/4.

First WO at f/4, then stopped down a tad at f/5.6. Here we go.

i-W8MfsnJ.jpg

i-GMp6KZJ.jpgi-GbNQPhm.jpg

i-xcHTk6s.jpg

It was cold and a little windy when I took the shots across a canyon between two mesas.

I tried to focus on the word DIRECTV.

At f/4 I see vignetting that has nicely cleared up at f/5.6.

I also think I can detect a little more DOF at f/5.6.

Is this the kind of sharpness performance one would expect when adding an APO-Extender-R 1.4x to an APO-Telyt-R 280/4 on A7R?

How would this lens/extender combination perform on an M240 in a similar situation?

Do you think there is any shutter shake visible in the images? If yes, how do you notice it?

I appreciate your feedback. TIA.

Hi, Chubby Checker asked the famous Limbo-question How low can you go?:D

Here, it means the shortest focal length for the A7, which is the Voigtländer Heliar 5,6/12 (F8, ISO 6400, 1/8 sec, JPEG ooc) in the Cathedral in Aachen/Germany:

Hi, in my last posting I answered Chubby Checker's Limbo Question.:D

Now, the opposite comes to mind How far can you go?

For me, it is 400mm with the Leitz Telyt R 6,8/400 on the A7 (cropped):
