crow Posted December 9, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 9, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Strange thing happening, I haven't noticed before, the frame-lines inside the CL viewfinder move while focusing the lens. I used to think only the two images inside the little rectangle in the middle move, actually one not both, but now I don't know... EIther it is all right, or I must have dropped the bag in which it is kept, although it is surrounded by soft material incase it drops. The vertical wide line across which the meter needle moves in the viewfinder becomes narrower and wider depending upon focusing close or infinity. Is this normal or am I missing something? earleygallery Posted December 9, 2013 Share #3 Posted December 9, 2013 Normal - more specifically it's for parallax correction.
crow Posted December 9, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted December 9, 2013 when I say the frame lines move I mean the 40mm and 50mm as well as the 90mm move, not just the little focusing rectangle in the middle. I guess it is OK.
wizard Posted December 9, 2013 Share #5 Posted December 9, 2013 ...I guess it is OK. Yes, it's a feature, not a bug . Serves to correctly position the frame lines according to the set distance (parallax compensation, as was correctly pointed out before).
crow Posted December 9, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted December 9, 2013 Yes, I've had a Leica IIIa, not entirely new to RF, it is just that so far I thought just the double image moved, not the whole 40 and 50 lines/rectangles them selves, kind of like the mountain moving towards Mohamed, rather than Mohamed to the mountain(small towards big). crow Posted December 9, 2013 Author Share #8 Posted December 9, 2013 of course the 40-50-90 white lines move, but they all seem to belong to the same rectangle, one that moves away and towards the vertical meter reference line, when moving towards thinning the vertical, moving away means fattening the vertical. Am I making sense?

Am I making sense? Yes, they come from the same mount so they move together. And yes, you make sense; the white line becomes thicker - but one has to own a CL to understand what you are talking about.
crow Posted December 9, 2013 Author Share #10 Posted December 9, 2013 Glad everything is fine then. Thanks guys.

Am I making sense? OK... "moving away"= focusing to infinity "moving towards" = focusing to near distance
