Hi,

I am considering the purchase of a Novoflex bellows to use my copy of this lens (version I) for magnification to at least 1:1.

I have read Mr. Laidlaw's recent post and the link in his post: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m-type-240/309737-what-does-one-need-novoflex.html#post2562051

I am wondering whether Mr. Laidlaw and others could offer their views on the lens's performance for close-up work given that it is not a dedicated macro lens. If anyone is able to post close-up/macro photos made with the lens, that would be great.

Thanks

Here are some examples taken of a rare (Danzig Free State with over print) postage stamp. This is a quite small stamp about 15mm x 11mm. The images are:

1) A crop saved as the true “as taken” pixels in forum size.

2) The whole image downsized to forum size and

3) The whole stamp, resized to forum size.

The original was taken with the 135 T-E mounted on the 33mm back thread on the head with a LEIEL 33 to 39mm adapter on the Novoflex bellows. This set up leads to slight vignetting as you can see. Image at 200ISO f5.6.

Jaap,

Thanks for that. This stamp was from a bunch of stamps in envelopes that belonged to my wife’s grandfather. I knew that the Danzig Free State stamp would be rare but someone else has just told me that the early stamps from there denominated in Danzig Marks rather than the later Gulden are exceedingly rare in near mint unused condition like this one. Apparently it could be worth up to $2.5K to a specialist collector. As I know nothing about stamps, I will have to take it to Stanley Gibbons in London to get valued. I am a bit chary about this, as when I took another relative’s album to have it valued at a Brighton stamp dealer, all the 19th century British penny black and red stamps were stolen out of it by the dealer.
