Nick De Marco Posted April 18, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have had my M4-P, my first Leica M, for over a week now. Really enjoying it. I got the first films run through it back last night, and although too many were ruiined (whether through my lack of experience with the camera, the fact it has no meter and my MC is out, or the high street develpoer), but there were still enough that showed a littl of what the leica can do to make me happy.... please have a look at the gallery and give me any comments you have. Thanks http://upload.pbase.com/nickdemarco/gallery/leica_m4p Nick
Advertisement Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Hi Nick De Marco, Take a look here First shots with my M4-P. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted April 18, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 18, 2007 For a first time LEICA-M-user this is a VERY impressive portofolio. Keep going. LEICA´s are a joy, esp. when handled well. You seem to do very fine, and you will even become much better after gaining more experience. Best
DriesI Posted April 18, 2007 Share #3 Posted April 18, 2007 Nick, To me your portfolio would also be VERY impressive if you were a more experienced (Leica) photographer. I think this is what people call talent! You have a good eye for composition (e.g. eat, light&shadow and running in Tate) and detail, as well as for the 'decisive moment' (e.g. in the footbridge picture - wich I think you should print on fibre paper for deep and rich blacks - and the cat found) It's time I visit London again and the Tate gallery. kr, Dries
Michael Hiles Posted April 18, 2007 Share #4 Posted April 18, 2007 Fine pictures, all. Stand outs for me are Rails - King's Cross, Running In Tate Modern. Congrats.
seaninsurrey Posted April 18, 2007 Share #5 Posted April 18, 2007 Hi Nick - it was great to see your results with the Summicron 35/2. May I ask which scanner you used? I'm thinking of buying a Coolscan V ed - haven't decided yet.
earleygallery Posted April 18, 2007 Share #6 Posted April 18, 2007 Nick, Great shots especially for your first time out with the camera. I'm currently shooting a roll in the 'new' M2. I think I recognise the Posh Bangers - Borough Market? You should come along to the next London meeting (when I or someone else organises one!). Mark Antony Posted April 18, 2007 Share #7 Posted April 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Great stuff Nick, I too have a M4-P ( since last summer- IIIc before that) and love using it, it does take a few films to get accustomed to using it but thats half the fun :-) I've no doubt from looking at your gallery that you are well up to the task! Kind Regards Mark
Nick De Marco Posted April 18, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted April 18, 2007 Many thanks for all the kind comments. I am looking forward to using it much much more so i am glad it's built like a tank! Sean, yes it was great to use the 35mm lens you sold me and that will be my mainstay lens from now on. I am very impressed with the 50mm as well, but I prefer the angle of view on the 35mm. I must admit (I am not sure this is allowed on here) not only did I not scan them myself, I also did not develop them either. I left it to my local "Snappy Snaps" whi actually do a reasonable job as they know me know and what I want. Still, I am never sure how reasonable it is. I do aim to buy my own scanner soon though so let me know about yours. Posh Bangers is in Borough market, and I'd love to come to the next meeting whenever you organise it. now I have splashed out on the Epson 2400 i shall soon be able to try some prints. thanks again Nick
earleygallery Posted April 18, 2007 Share #9 Posted April 18, 2007 Nick, I also use Snappy Snaps - I usually just ask them to develop and scan - no prints. Their scans are perfectly fine for web use, and print ok as well to moderate sizes. But even on my Flatbed Epson 4870 the quality of scans are much better, so I re-scan and then print the particular photos I want. Certainly no problems posting here - the only rules are that a Leica camera and/or lens is used.
