NJH Posted April 16, 2014 Share #61 Posted April 16, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) My local lab will push C-41 but they require at least 5 films in a batch to make it worthwhile for them to do it. I guess many labs may be the same as otherwise it would require them to set up the processing machine for just one or two films which can't be particularly economical. I really want to try this film as an alternative to Portra for indoors/night time photography, how do you guys find it in comparison? I looked at some of the stuff on their website and it looks fantastic.

stevesurf Posted April 16, 2014 Share #62 Posted April 16, 2014 Hi Stevesurf, I just noticed your from the Phoenix area. You might find it interesting I recently shot the Zapcon (2014) event this past weekend in downtown Phoenix. Since Tempe Camera does not push C-41, I had to send the film to Photographic Works (in Tucson) Photographic Works - Photo and Film Processing Lab in Tucson, Arizona I have no idea how it's gong to turn out. If I get something useful, I'll be sure to post it onto my website and share the link in this forum. I've got my fingers crossed hoping the images don't come out looking too flat. A weekend long pinball party will most certainly get you some great shots. What's interesting is that Costco-Phoenix (Oak St) has the new Fuji Frontier (I believe that's the name) minilab and all my C-41 and scans have been done there. They only scratched one negative out of a hundred rolls, so it's been a great cost and time savings! You just need to write them a note since Cinestill has no DX coding. Hope you get nice images back. We should get together when I return in a couple of weeks

I looked at some of the stuff on their website and it looks fantastic. For outdoor night time photography it is amazing! I still would use Portra for your general indoor and outdoor shooting. I really enjoy having one body with Cinestill and one with Portra in it; it is a great deal of fun seeing the differences outdoors. With the enhanced greens and red halos, it makes for a pretty, dreamy effect. I've been finding that I'm shooting more film than digital these days and have a shorter workflow! stevesurf Posted May 17, 2014 Share #64 Posted May 17, 2014 Thanks! These guys seem to be a bit earlier than Adorama and B & H is getting newer films. I noticed that B&H now carries the cinefilm which previous was only available from Freestyle -- neither carry Adox. So now I can support a US firm, price looks close to the same as in Germany at current euro rates. I saw Steve posted this in another thread about B&H now carrying Cinestill - great news: Cinestill 800Tungsten Xpro C-41 35mm Color Negative Film 800135
thebarnman Posted May 8, 2015 Share #65 Posted May 8, 2015 I finally have some samples of CineStill film to share! Like I had said earlier, "...I used...CineStill film...in...a darkened room with the only light being arcade equipment (pinball and video games.) ...as you can see...There...are...lots of different colored lights and therefore the images should be very colorful." This is a small sample of how those turned out... I like how these turned out. The film was pushed two stops and was shot with my Leica R9 with the 90/2 APO-Summicron-R ASPH lens.
