dugby Posted November 25, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 25, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Whilst I still love to use my D2 whilst travelling, as I seem to end up in many undesirable locations, I can't just can't bring my M240 with 35/FLE and 50/FLE to these places because of the extra weight. I have just attended the Fuji X-E2 here in Perth, and must say it's everything that a Digilux 2 user would aspire to have as a replacement for the D2. Given the X-E2's low cost of purchase , body with 18-55 kit lens ( 27-82mm equivalent) I'm starting to think this may well be my D2 replacement. They also have this wonderful 23mm/1.4 ( 35mm1.4 equivalent) Leica previously did the co-manufacturing deal with Fuji for the Digilux4/3 range etc, I even have the 6800ZX and more recently with Panasonic for the LC1/D2, I really think Leica should do a deal again with Fuji, and do something with a Leica badged version of the X-E2
Advertisement Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Hi dugby, Take a look here Digilux 2 ====>> Fujifilm X-E2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
adan Posted November 25, 2013 Share #2 Posted November 25, 2013 I'd more or less second that assessment. The Fuji X zooms lack aperture rings (thus far), but the prime lenses (except the pancake 27mm) all have aperture rings, and match the D2's aperture range ("28" f/2, "90" f/2.8, plus the available, and soon to come, f/1.4 lenses (there is also an "84mm" f/1.4 on the horizon)). Corner EVF, analog controls (with the pluses of Barnack 3:2 format, APS sensor, eye-sensor switching between EVF and LCD) - and nice out-of-the-camera jpeg color. It pretty much covers all the Digilux 2 bases. And - if you want to retain some Leica loyalty - you can mount M (and presumably, eventually R) lenses via an adapter. Guytou Posted November 25, 2013 Share #3 Posted November 25, 2013 When I go on a trip I always take my D-Lux 5 which is not cumbersome and a good quality of image gets to me. I recently sold a LC1 and I kept my faithful D2. I had also thought of buying Fuji XE1 or XE2 and zoom 18-55, but I preferred to buy Leica X Vario. The quality of manufacturing and especially of image seem higher to me as well as the manual adjustments on optics. Guy
symmetron Posted November 27, 2013 Share #4 Posted November 27, 2013 XE-1 can be had at a pretty good price ($999) since the XE-2 came out ($1399).

I just purchased the X-E2 a couple of weeks ago. For $1399 with a nice zoom, which does have an aperture ring (although without markings) you can't beat it. The images and colors are great. Best of all it has a built in EVF and no lag pic to pic. I recommend it.
