These purple blotches, that I assume are due to sensor bluming at edges bordering on highlights, are they avoided by underexposing (if one doesn't want to stop the lens down)? Are they correctable in LR4? Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Duane Pandorf Posted November 16, 2013 Share #3 Posted November 16, 2013 M9, Noctilux f1.These purple blotches, that I assume are due to sensor bluming at edges bordering on highlights, are they avoided by underexposing (if one doesn't want to stop the lens down)? Are they correctable in LR4?... This may or may not be what's known as Chromatic Aberration. Depending on the background, like in your case, and shooting your fast lens wide open will cause this effect. If you're using Lightroom, this can be corrected. In the Develop Module since there is not a lens profile for the f/1.0 I would start by selecting the Leica Noctilux .95 profile in the Lens Corrections Panel. In the third tab in that panel you will see the option "Color". Click on that option. Select the eye dropper and click on one of the offending "purple" color problems. You may have to experiment where you click for the correction to work the way you'd like. Hope this helps. Here's a link to your photo that I used the above technique.
