bill Posted April 16, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) So. What do you keep your little screwmount lenses in? My IIIc sits nicely on my belt or in my bag in an old "no-name" pouch that holds the camera with one lens fitted and a spare roll of film, but I then have two or three other lenses (another 50, a 35 and a 75) and a VIDOM to drop into various pockets. At the moment they live in an old soft glasses case, a little padded batik pouch, an old Contax G-series leather pouch, a handkerchief... whatever comes to hand. I was wondering if anyone has found a suitable and sensible means of carrying and protecting these little gems - normal lens cases are just too big! Suggestions? Advertisement Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Hi bill, Take a look here What do you keep 'em in...?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted April 16, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 16, 2007 Bill, I have a couple of small 'rucksacks' which hold the body/lens, and then have 3 or 4 pockets which hold 1 or 2 lenses, meter, film. The best thing is that it doesn't scream CAMERA! or LAPTOP! and is very practical in use. OK its not padded but then I'm not chucking it around. You can always use bubble wrap bags as and inner lining.
Irishimage Posted April 16, 2007 Share #3 Posted April 16, 2007 Hi Bill, I use a Small Samsonite camera bag with shoulder strap, which has 2 small zipped pockets on the front that my 111c or 111g fit perfectly in. For the lens a 5cm elmer collapsable i use rubber eyecup covers from an old pair of binoculars which fit over the front and rear like a glove. Small neat and safe, means i can go anywhere with my precious equipment. Regards Noel
luigi bertolotti Posted April 17, 2007 Share #4 Posted April 17, 2007 Well, in the market you can find an impressive variety of camera bags of a big range of dimensions... not all are fine, but, by myself, I use a soft bag (terribly blue, do not remember the brand, if any) with small internal compartments, well soft, that accomodates very well IIIf 50 + 90 + 135 + 28 all "capped", finders & hoods: tiny, portable, not nice to see, pity.... bill Posted April 17, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted April 17, 2007 Sorry chaps, I think I wasn't clear enough in my first post. Bags I have aplenty. What I am after is recommendations on POUCHES and CASES for LENSES. The beauty of the Barnack system for me is that I can carry a decent set of lenses in my pockets. I can't be the only one! Regards, Bill Sorry, I really did not realize: for my Summaron 28 I have the original plastic container superthin superclever, and for the finders the Leitz leather originals (not difficult to find, costly, very robust!) but when I put 90 or 135 in my pockets I use "fake soft leather" small bags strip-closed, conceived for bigger lenses (35 mm SLRs)... not so satisfying: lenses are loose inside... years ago I saw similar small pouches that could be MOUTH INFLATED to make the lenses fit well... I do not know is something similar still exists...
dlove5 Posted April 17, 2007 Share #7 Posted April 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Cargo pants may or may not be in style, but I love the velcro seal pockets. Having a IIIa with a 35 or 50 lens in a lower leg pocket as well as another lens or two, film, viewfinder, light meter and whatever in other pockets works for me. It sure beats getting teased by my daughters for carrying around a man-purse. I have been known to use socks or little tote bags for padding. The tote bags were ones I found laying around over the years. My knitting freak daughter is making me some drawstring pouches. I did tell her they need to be lined. We'll see how that goes. Regards, Bill Bill, I mentioned that I sometimes use bubble wrap bags inside my rucksack - I'm sure they'd be a good solution to carrying the lenses in your pockets too. They're available in various sizes from places like Rymans.

k_g_wolf ✝ Posted April 19, 2007 Share #10 Posted April 19, 2007 >> Bill: BILLINGHAM Simplies, the small type for LTM- lenses, might work. They are made of green nylon-cloth, with a round leather bottompart. You close them with string and kind of a presslock (?) and can be stuffed away in dusty trouserpockets. I use them regularly for M- and small R- lenses this way. Best ____________________ (?) Do not know the proper expression for the thingy, but it locks fine ... rob_x2004 Posted April 20, 2007 Share #12 Posted April 20, 2007 Dont know if this helps. Certainly useful in ruck sacks. Faster and to get in and out of than bubble wrap and they are crush proof, water proof. Few sizes and shapes and one fits an M body almost perfectly. Sachet of dessicant if you are travelling. ..... imported_peter_m Posted May 18, 2007 Share #14 Posted May 18, 2007 This thread got me inspired and I made up some small pouches for my lenses, sure works a lot better then keeping them naked in a coat pocket Peter Welcome, dear visitor! gadge Posted May 31, 2007 Share #15 Posted May 31, 2007 <My knitting freak daughter is making me some drawstring pouches.> Whilst surfing at the weekend I saw a guy putting a "knitted" surfboard cover on a 10' Longboard. I must admit to having a bit of a laugh about it with my mate. We wondered if his wife had started out to knit a jumper and it came out a bit too big!
