More wildlife. Saw this beauty at Cotswold Wildlife Park the other week. Shot with my DMR 280/2.8 with 2x Extender; For some reason the 2x Extender meant that the lens registered as f1 !!! Any ideas why?

I have done a bit of tweaking in LR and thought you might like to see this beautiful and exceedingly rare beast (<40 in the wild, 100 in captivity).

Best wishes,

Charlie

My apologies if the post processing is a bit over-vigorous.

handsome creature, but did you underexpose & try to recover in post with these?

the noise borders on the painful, all the more the pity because you caught this noble beast in fine posture

maybe using the extender caused this problem

sometimes its better to accept the limits, rather than push the envelope

Ralph,

Many thanks. It looks much better. I just hadn't used the 2x extender before on my 280/2.8 apo before. I didn't realise that it came up as f1 in the metering!!! Well you live and learn. How did you remove some of the noise? Normally my exposures are pretty good - these threee just went awry. Unfortunately by the time I realsied the leopard had gone for a post-prandial nap!!

Best wishes,

Charlie

Charlie,

I reduced the noise with Noiseware from Imagenomic :

Imagenomic - Imagination at Shutter Speed

There is also a "Community Edition" you can use for free for non commercial purposes.

Best wishes,

Ralph
