topoxforddoc Posted April 16, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) More wildlife. Saw this beauty at Cotswold Wildlife Park the other week. Shot with my DMR 280/2.8 with 2x Extender; For some reason the 2x Extender meant that the lens registered as f1 !!! Any ideas why? I have done a bit of tweaking in LR and thought you might like to see this beautiful and exceedingly rare beast (<40 in the wild, 100 in captivity). Best wishes, Charlie My apologies if the post processing is a bit over-vigorous.
Advertisement Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Hi topoxforddoc, Take a look here Amur Leopards . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Artichoke Posted April 18, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 18, 2007 handsome creature, but did you underexpose & try to recover in post with these? the noise borders on the painful, all the more the pity because you caught this noble beast in fine posture maybe using the extender caused this problem sometimes its better to accept the limits, rather than push the envelope
kahner Posted April 18, 2007 Share #3 Posted April 18, 2007 I have tried to recover some noise. If you don't want this, I will remove the picture. What do you think ?
topoxforddoc Posted April 18, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted April 18, 2007 Ralph, Many thanks. It looks much better. I just hadn't used the 2x extender before on my 280/2.8 apo before. I didn't realise that it came up as f1 in the metering!!! Well you live and learn. How did you remove some of the noise? Normally my exposures are pretty good - these threee just went awry. Unfortunately by the time I realsied the leopard had gone for a post-prandial nap!! Best wishes, Charlie

Charlie, I reduced the noise with Noiseware from Imagenomic : Imagenomic - Imagination at Shutter Speed There is also a "Community Edition" you can use for free for non commercial purposes.
