250swb Posted November 6, 2013 Share #9 Posted November 6, 2013 I can't make up my mind what camera to take, although we aren't allowed to photograph in the sensitive areas anyway. An Olympus XA? An Olympus RC35? Or an MP? I feel obliged to take a film camera, but would it be rude to load it with Tri-X? Oh the worry Steve
Falstaff Posted November 6, 2013 Share #10 Posted November 6, 2013 I feel obliged to take a film camera, but would it be rude to load it with Tri-X? Oh the worry Steve You could always ask them for some samples Falstaff

250swb Posted November 6, 2013 Share #12 Posted November 6, 2013 If it's loaded no one will know I might blurt it out under interrogation, but if we get free samples it would be 4x5 FP4! Steve
chris_livsey Posted November 6, 2013 Author Share #13 Posted November 6, 2013 I have it on good authority there are samples I vote MP BTW. I'm leaning towards Nikon S3 Olympic, but this is worse than deciding what to take on holiday I've saved some HP5+ as I'm shooting Orwo 74 at the moment, just in case they ask. Falstaff Posted November 15, 2013 Share #14 Posted November 15, 2013 I went today and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Thanks to Chris L for flagging this up. Would have liked to have thanked you personally but didn't know what you looked like.... Falstaff
chris_livsey Posted November 15, 2013 Author Share #15 Posted November 15, 2013 didn't know what you looked like.... Falstaff "We seek him here, we seek him there Those Frenchies seek him everywhere! Is he in heaven? Or is he in hell? That demmed Elusive Pimpernel?" “Full many a flower is born to blush unseen, And waste it's fragrance on the desert air.” Echo the sentiment, a great day, deep respect for our film makers. Never met a nicer crew of "ordinary" staff in every Dept. I will remember them all when I press the button, which i did taking the sign on leaving:rolleyes:

As for "Full many a flower....", if memory serves me right, is it not from Gray's Elegy in a country churchyard? I also agree with you that the place felt like an extended family rather than a "factory". Thanks anyway. Falstaff
chris_livsey Posted November 15, 2013 Author Share #17 Posted November 15, 2013 1st THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL BY BARONESS ORCZY Chapter 12 Sir Percy is a wealthy English baronet who rescues individuals sentenced to death by the guillotine. He soon reveals himself to be a master of disguise, an imaginative planner, a formidable swordsman and a quick-thinking escape artist. 2nd, Jane Austen "Emma" Vol II Chapter IV ( That's being awkward, Gray got there first but it puzzles people if you attribute to Austen) MACAVITY, THE MYSTERY CAT by T.S. Eliot Macavity's a Mystery Cat: he's called the Hidden Paw - For he's the master criminal who can defy the Law. He's the bafflement of Scotland Yard, the Flying Squad's despair: For when they reach the scene of crime - Macavity's not there!
Rolo Posted November 15, 2013 Share #18 Posted November 15, 2013 It was very informative. Sorry to miss you Chris as we've met before. I was the one in the white coat. I think the visit might turn me into a loyal customer. Gary
chris_livsey Posted November 15, 2013 Author Share #19 Posted November 15, 2013 I was the one in the white coat. Gary But I'm colour blind Not really but never let an inconvenient fact get in the way of a good riposte. I agree, I have tended to buy "novelty" emulsions to "test" I should settle down and no maker deserves support more. I feel responsible for those staff now !!
