Help, please, with Leica M8 software

My hard disk crashed this week and, no, I had no backup. We won't go there now. I need badly to print some photos. Quality is not important here but timeliness is. I can use iPhoto but need a driver. My software is in North Carolina and I am in Florida. Is there anyone out there that is willing to share a driver or tell me where I could download one. I do not see any software on the Leica site - just firmware. Maybe I am in the wrong spot.

Thank you very much for your help.

Edmund,

I just need the driver from the Leica software cd that came with the camera to download some photos to iPhoto to print them.

That is the only software I have until I can get my PS and Cap One replaced.

Thanks,

LMB

I do not think you need a driver, only a card reader or the cable from the camera to your computer. Your computer should recognize it and the photos can be downloaded and imported into iPhoto.

You can download a one month demo of both C1 and PS.

Bill,

Edmund,

Thank you both. Bill, I tried but iPhoto did not recognize the camera. It did before the crash.

I will download the demo versions and that should solve the problem for now.

Again, thank you both very much.

Thank you.

Actually, the cd is needed for iPhoto as the M8 is not directly supported by Apple. The Photoshop downloads are not out yet for CS3 and the download for Elements is for Windows only.

I am trying a couple other ideas. If they fail I may have to email you and take you up on your offer.

I really appreceiate your kindness.

You don't need a driver to load photos to a Mac, if for some reason your camera isn't recognized have you tried a card reader? Is it not recognized or just not launching iphoto? Are you shooting DNG or JPG or both? Have you tried image capture in the applications folder? You really shouldn't need that disk, there really isn't a driver for Mac.

What you need is to launch the following application which is already on your MAC.

Got to the applications folder and locate the applicaiton: Image Capture.

It will connect to your M8 and you can set it up to download to a new folder. Then, open in Preview and print. It is all on your Apple MAC, part of OSX

Thank you all very much. gerasdoc was kind enough to send me via e:mail the driver I needed. It worked perfectly. I am very grateful to him.

Although we all have different thoughts and understandings, my understanding is that a driver or link is required to download directly to iphoto. The iPhoto software has many drivers built in for many cameras but not Leica. Once I added the driver, my download was instant.

I hope I may be able to help others someday.

Best regards,

LMB
