..is there a simple explanation as to why I am getting a dark band at either the left side or top (depending on camera landscape/portrait orientation) of the frame when using an M240 with 2x SF24d's, off camera & on radio slave. Flashes on manual. Exposures at f4-5.6, Iso200 & 1/180s. Two lenses used..35lux & 75cron.

Were you able to confirm the issue?

It's a flash sync issue due to the focal plane shutter not fully syncing.

Although your camera will sync at 180/th the radio trigger won't give you that sync speed. Shoot at a slower shutter speed 125/th should be Ok and you'll find that the band will have disappeared :)

Thanks, Paulmac, you're a star..!!:) I had a strong feeling it was user error & not the fault of the camera. Cheers..!!

here are a couple of files at 1/125s & 1/60s, neither of which now show a dark shadow. Thank you & apologies for posting pics in this part of the forum to phone users.

& for those that may be interested, first shot from left to right : budgie (he was rescued), Pinky, Perky, Piper & Phillip. Marty in the foreground. Peter out of shot but next to Marty in the second image.

I've had the same experience with the MM using Pocket Wizards -- intermittent banding at 1/180. Downshifting to 1/125 seems to take care of it. Pity they couldn't have put a PC socket on the camera.

All that costs money. You need to buy a better camera.

Suppose they want to sell only their flash?
