Keith (M) Posted October 22, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) My usual choice for high(ish) speed film is Tri-X, which I rate at ISO 200 and develop in Rodinal 1:50 for 9 minutes. The speed 'pulling' is on the basis that it gives a more 'scannable' neg. Am now going to try out out a roll of Neopan 400 and wondered if anyone has experience of using this at either (a) ISO 200 or ( 400 then developing in Rodinal. The Massive Dev chart shows 8 mins for (a) and 11 mins for (. Comments on scan-ability welcomed too.

telewatt Posted October 25, 2013 Share #3 Posted October 25, 2013 Keith, of course you can develop Neopan 400 in Rodinal, but most balanced the film is developed in "T-Max" developer or Emofin developer. regards, Jan
Keith (M) Posted October 25, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted October 25, 2013 Thanks - I have no doubts that the combination can be used, but was seeking comments etc from anyone who has practical experience of using this particular combination.
telewatt Posted October 25, 2013 Share #5 Posted October 25, 2013 Thanks - I have no doubts that the combination can be used, but was seeking comments etc from anyone who has practical experience of using this particular combination. For 30 years I have been photographing with Neopan 400.... 15 years ago I did a test with all developers and this was my result. A year later, was the same result in a big photo magazine... I saw you use a lot of old lenses so I would do a test on Rodinal and "T-max" developer..... regards, Jan
Keith (M) Posted October 26, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted October 26, 2013 Thanks Jan. My choice of Rodinal is because of its resistance to oxidisation. Due to travelling there can be periods of more than three months between developing sessions and previous experience with Ilfosol and Aculux shows that they are no longer fit for use (despite taking precautions to exclude air from the bottle). Lots of expensive wastage! Hence I am reluctant to move away from Rodinal.
andybarton Posted October 26, 2013 Share #7 Posted October 26, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) HC110 has an amazing shelf life if you fancy trying something from the 20C, rather than the 19th
topoxforddoc Posted October 26, 2013 Share #8 Posted October 26, 2013 I use Neopan 400 (or what I have left at any rate) in XTOL 1:1. Stock XTOL lasts up to a year. Charlie
