Advertisement Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Hi wbesz, Take a look here Sector of Melbourne . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
meatboy Posted July 25, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 25, 2006 ahh, good ol Melbourne, sunny one minute, raining the next. Good capture of an interesting cloudscape. I like the way you've picked the right exposure and managed to capture the highlights on the ground as well as the light rays from the cloud - I think its quite an other worldly image. wbesz Posted July 25, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted July 25, 2006 "sunny one minute, raining the next", Tim, never thought of it like that at the time, but indeed it is true! Thanks Tim and Marc. Cheers, William
stuny Posted July 25, 2006 Share #5 Posted July 25, 2006 William - This is most promising on my sub-optimal work monitor. I'll check again from home tonight.
stunsworth Posted July 25, 2006 Share #6 Posted July 25, 2006 One of the things that suprised me when I went to Sydney last year was how quickly the weather could change from bright sunny, to overcast, then back again to sunny. I have some shots of people running around circular quay in a downpour. Anyway, back to the shot, I like it a lot. Very moody and menacing, terifically atmospheric. wbesz Posted July 25, 2006 Author Share #9 Posted July 25, 2006 Thanks for your comments. A most recent shot and the image is as I took it, except for a little vertical cropping. (easy scanning slide film) Odd, regarding exposure, I just set the MP light meter to the intersection of the bright light and the dark landscape (this comes from a little practice). Cheers, William
stuny Posted July 25, 2006 Share #10 Posted July 25, 2006 William - Now that I see it on my home monitor I can confirm that it lived up to its promise. Lovely and masterful.
gylee Posted July 26, 2006 Share #11 Posted July 26, 2006 William - Is this taken from the Rialto? Looks like the view from my old office on the 30th floor! Great photo. G.
dan_drabek Posted July 26, 2006 Share #12 Posted July 26, 2006 A spectacular image William. Perfectly exposed. The perspective in the foreground draws the eye right back into the light. Glad to see you out and shooting again. DD
wbesz Posted July 26, 2006 Author Share #13 Posted July 26, 2006 Thanks Stuart, Gordon and DD. Very good guess Gordon, yes I took the lift up in the Rialto building approaching 5:00pm hoping for something good with the day's ending. DD, yes thanks getting out more now and even hoping to go to Solms (soon) too! :-) William
john79456 Posted July 26, 2006 Share #14 Posted July 26, 2006 Such a dramatic shot, I have a feeling we are in for similar stormy conditions after the recent heatwave in England!
