Jimmykjimmy Posted October 11, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted October 11, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just received today. Packaging was good. Need to charge the battery through the camera USB. Can't figure why Leica uses that proprietary USB, pain in the butt!!
Advertisement Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Hi Jimmykjimmy, Take a look here Leica C Compact. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rjans Posted October 12, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted October 12, 2013 I ordered mine today. Charging a battery within the camera is becoming popular also with other brands. If a separate charger is needed, after a search on the internet you may be able to find one at a cheap price. Â Best

jamieboy32 Posted November 9, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted November 9, 2013 OK I have one and agree that charging the battery/camera via a USB to PC or mains lead is not ideal. There are plenty of battery chargers made by third parties, neither Panasonic nor Leica make one yet! I take 2 spare pre-charged batteries with me. for a full review look up Amazons Kindle Yo!--Leicas made in Japan. Â Regards Jamie Bell
jaapv Posted November 9, 2013 Share #5  Posted November 9, 2013 I have the Panasonic. Charging via USB didn’t even work properly. So I bought an insert for an old Jupio charger I have lying around.  Btw, carry the camera in a case. The matte paint will wear off within weeks if you just slip it into your pocket. It is a pity if you paid the premium for the Leica one.
stuny Posted November 11, 2013 Share #6 Â Posted November 11, 2013 Of course the best thing about a separate charger is you can charge one battery while using another.
prk60091 Posted December 6, 2013 Share #7 Â Posted December 6, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I for one like the charging through the USB port. I just picked up a 'c' and it is refreshing not to have to carry another proprietary wall wart to charge a camera on vacation. I haven't shot more than 100 images with it yet so I cannot tell if I will need a second battery or not. I have not shot more than 100 images a day in years. Last summer in London and Paris on vacation I averaged 50 images per day, and I never had to use the second battery I carried around with me. So I was able to recharge every night. I think with the EVF (such as it is) the battery takes much less a hit than with the LCD Â I really am enjoying this little beauty. Â Ergonomically I would like a thumb grip but I am still playing and learning the camera.
Mixalis Posted January 9, 2014 Share #8 Â Posted January 9, 2014 I am an unreserved fan of in-camera charging for several practical reasons. I outlined these in my recent article In Praise of In-Camera Charging. I much prefer to have this as the default option. A third-party external charger is a cheap addition if absolutely necessary. Pintpot Posted January 18, 2014 Share #9 Â Posted January 18, 2014 I for one like the charging through the USB port. I really am enjoying this little beauty. Â Ergonomically I would like a thumb grip but I am still playing and learning the camera. Â Me also! I've had mine since the end of October. Think I'll get a second battery though, if and when one is available. Regards

If you do not have an instruction manual try the download for the C-Lux 2 available from the Leica Camera AG  Leica Camera AG - Downloads  … could not find a download for the C-Lux 1 but the cameras are very similar.  dunk
