dont458 Posted September 30, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 30, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just subscribed to Photoshop CC. After reading about issues with NIK plugins not working with CC, the solutions I found, including on the NIK site, seemed to be clear and okay. However, when I try either of the two solutions neither works for me. The first method, suggested in the NIK site FAQ, is to use the + button in the Host Application window of the installer to choose the CC plugin folder. The problem with this method is that the Leica supplied installer for Silver Efex does not have this button and CC is not shown as a host. The second method suggest copying the plugin folder from CS6 to CC. My previous version was CS3 and neither it nor Lightroom has a folder for plugins. I also tried to download the NIK version of Silver Efex but the Leica supplied key is not valid for this, even though it seems to be the same software. Does anyone know how to make the plugin work for CC? Thanks
Advertisement Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Hi dont458, Take a look here Silver Efex install with PS CC. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LucisPictor Posted September 30, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 30, 2013 Are you sure that CS3 does not have a folder for plug-ins? Have you checked the program section of your Windows system (there, the Adobe folder then)?
dont458 Posted September 30, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted September 30, 2013 I forgot to mention that I'm using Mac os-x Mountain Lion. The systemn plugin folder is /Library/Plugins which does not contain anything NIK related. CS3 does have a plugin folder but is not supported by Silver Efex and therefore the NIK plugins are not there as I would expect: (/Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS3/Plug-Ins/) Lightroom has a plugin folder but NIK is not there either: /Applications/Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.app/Contents/PlugIns/. I don't understand why the Silver Efex plugin would not be there but what do I know? It is installed and works fine with Lightroom. I just want to use the filters in the layers of PS CC. Thanks, Don

Luke_Miller Posted September 30, 2013 Share #5 Posted September 30, 2013 Perhaps this helps. It is how I installed Silver Efex in Photoshop CC. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-post-processing-forum/293151-silver-efex-pro-2-photoshop-plugin.html
Guest WPalank Posted October 1, 2013 Share #6 Posted October 1, 2013 Having just set up my Intuos 5 in Studio (finally) yesterday, so that I can actuate the Google (Nik) Plug-ins directly from the "Radial Menu", I can tell you where they nest on my Mac in CC. Photoshop CC>Plug-Ins>Panel>Silver Efex Pro 2 (along with the rest of the Google Plug-ins)
