Dr Owl Posted September 29, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 29, 2013 0.58 bodies do not have frame lines for 135mm lenses.
a.noctilux Posted September 29, 2013 Share #3 Posted September 29, 2013 Very simple. If you have M6 Classic, only x 0.72. If M6 TTL, you would see the markings on the viewfinder front glass. Arnaud

rulnacco Posted October 20, 2013 Share #5 Posted October 20, 2013 Very simple. If you have M6 Classic, only x 0.72. If M6 TTL, you would see the markings on the viewfinder front glass. Actually, this is not entirely correct. There were, late in production, some M6 Classics made with 0.85 finders--I happen to own one. And there were also some made with 0.58 finders, as you know. My 0.85 has the magnification etched on the bottom corner of the viewfinder window. My previous, older M6 Classic (with a 0.72 finder) didn't have anything there. I'm betting all the later models had the magnification on the viewfinder window. If there's nothing there, it's probably an older (pre-TTL introduction) M6 Classic. The definitive way to tell would be from the frame lines: the 0.72 will have all six (28/90, 35/135, 50/75). The 0.85 will be missing the 28 frame line, and the 0.58 will not have the 135 frame line. cornbarn Posted October 21, 2013 Share #6 Posted October 21, 2013 Just to add to the previous post; I'm also lucky enough to own one of the M6 Classics with the 0.85 finder. It's in black chrome with the magnification of 0.85 engraved on the lower part of the viewfinder glass. The serial number dates it to 1998. From what I've read, production of the M6/0.85 started in 1997 and a relatively small number were made until production was switched to the M6 TTL in 1998. payasam Posted October 24, 2013 Share #7 Posted October 24, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) A 0.72 body has 28mm as the widest frame while a 0.85 body has 35mm as the widest. As Dr. Owl said, a 0.58 body has no 135mm frame.
