A 20th C halfpenny (probably last year of issue) above a plain black velvet background The following three coins were positioned approx. 10 inches above a crumpled kitchen foil background to try and achieve a pseudo 3D effect: All lighting via fibre optic projectors; the last two 'rim lighting' effect achieved using a modified yoghurt carton diffuser. The backgrounds were illuminated separately using a second fibre optic projector. Light on the outside of the carton of course and you might like the results. I've had some fun with table top shooting. You have nice work on yours. The yoghurt carton cut into a tube section and used for the last two images probably has the same effect as your milk tub. Another lighting method I want to try is coaxial lighting but to do it properly requires making a beam splitter - it's on my project list. Leica X-Vario fitted with combination of one Elpro VIb plus one Elpro V1a supplementary close-up lenses (total 7.43 diopters). Lens at 46mm (70mm FF equivalent) zoom setting; 1/6sec f9 ISO 200. B&W film mode. Camera on copy stand; coins inside miniature softbox on 20cm x 6cm glass table supported on wooden blocks above out of focus background made from baking foil. Two £10 Ikea Swan Neck "JANSJO" LED lamps fitted with home made snoots illuminating the miniature softbox achieve rim lighting effect. Softbox is modified ice cream carton fitted with drafting film windows. Background illumination via third Ikea "JANSJO" lamp plus diffuser.
