Digilux 2 - alternative battery ?

I'm an old guy who hardly ever takes photographs. Maybe once or twice a year. I want quality so I have a Leica D2. But every time I go to use it the battery is flat. It's no use telling me to charge the battery once a month. I always forget, and lithium-ion doesn't like that. Ideally I would be able to put AA batteries in the D2. I keep a stock of those. But AA batteries won't fit. Does anyone have a solution?

Charging once a month won't harm the battery at all.

I have the same camera as well. I removed the battery when I am not using the camera, and recharge the battery when I use the camera. I believe you are supposed to charge the battery twice a year, but you are not supposed to store the battery when it's fully charge. At least this is what the instruction manual said for the X Vario's battery.

Perhaps if you were to recharge the batter once a month on a day in which something happens every month, such as paying rent on a flat, or receiving a pension check, etc.

Thank you, everyone. You're all very kind. Unfortunately my brain is starting to fail. Remembering is very hard to do. Eventually you'll find out what it's like. But when I do manage to get it charged the D2 and I can still take some pretty good photographs. When charging fails then my Rollei TLR saves the day, though, with failing eyesight as well, I prefer autoexposure and autofocus of the D2.
