satijntje Posted September 5, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 5, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, the last 2 days I had several phone calls with shops that sell leica Kamera's. It seems that the incoming flow of M's has finally increased significantly, and this is excellent news for the people that are on waiting lists. There are also kamera's on stock. Example: the electronics shop CAPI that has a few shops at Schiphol Amsterdam airport has a black one in stock for 6299 Euro. So for those of you that are on a never ending waiting list and are flying, it might be worth checking electronics shops at larger airports. p.s. the one in stock in Amsterdam is a black one. I hope that I have been able to help at least one forum member here :-) Good luck, I'm waiting for mine ( a chrome version) that will arrive next week ;-) John
Advertisement Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Hi satijntje, Take a look here Leica M in stock at Schiphol airport. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted September 5, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 5, 2013 Should be 20% less in the tax-free area.
satijntje Posted September 5, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted September 5, 2013 CAPI does not want to ship it. The Kamera can only be bought in their shops. As there is only one available, buyer must sure that you go to the right shop. I have asked them if I can get a VAT free if I fly e.g. to Switzerland (non-EU), the CAPI answer was no, there is a buy and fly price and that is 6299€. Don't know if you are flying intercontinental....... J
jaapv Posted September 5, 2013 Share #4 Posted September 5, 2013 Normally B&F prices are 20% off rsp, irrespective of where you are flying. Capi must be cashing in on scarcity.
bagnon Posted September 5, 2013 Share #5 Posted September 5, 2013 I saw it's also available at Frankfurt airport, for the modest sum of 8.000€. Frankfurt Airport | Photair
satijntje Posted September 5, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted September 5, 2013 Normally B&F prices are 20% off rsp, irrespective of where you are flying. Capi must be cashing in on scarcity. The buy and fly method was introduced after the EU decided that within the EU there would be no more tax free shopping at airports. To keep the shops open, they introduced these buy and fly shops. Tobacco and Alcohol are always with VAT as well as other stuff. Only if you fly outside EU (I thought to fly to Switzerland with easyjet with a 68 Euroflight) these tobacco and alc things are taxfree. For the swiss example, CAPA told me that they were still charging 6300, unless I had a company. Maybe it is different at the intercontinental terminal. Frankfurt airport used to ask 6800 Euro in the past for the M. They pay a lot of rent for their shop at the airport and putting a plus of 10%, that is what the salesman told me there! DigitalHeMan Posted September 5, 2013 Share #7 Posted September 5, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Normally B&F prices are 20% off rsp, irrespective of where you are flying. Capi must be cashing in on scarcity. Earlier this year they had a MM for sale for quite a lot less (10%) than other Dutch dealers, but from what I gathered the distributor (and other NL vendors) weren't too happy with this and they had to increase their price to the rrp. They do also have a 35mm Summicron last time I checked for 2199, which is also less than the normal price of 2499. Other camera brands are available cheaper than RRP, but normally only by around 10% and sometimes not even that. I wonder if this is partly to do with the worldwide warranty they provide (and presumably have to fund) on the electronics that they sell.
pimver Posted September 10, 2013 Share #8 Posted September 10, 2013 The 6299 euro is the price on land-side, on the air-side it is 5599 and they have on average 2-3 in stock, mostly black. On the air-side price is the same for Schengen and non-Schengen and they are happy to transfer a camera from one to the other, will usually take 15-20 minutes max. Also they have the EVF2 in stock as well.
larsv Posted September 10, 2013 Share #9 Posted September 10, 2013 If you buy at Schiphol airport, VAT is due and payable. If you live outside of the EU, you can get a VAT refund. Subsequently you are subject to duties and charges as per your final destination. At least, that is my understanding. Tax free was abolished many moons ago. jaapv Posted September 10, 2013 Share #10 Posted September 10, 2013 As I understand it -and experienced it over the years- if no tax can be reclaimed (flights within the EU) there will be a 20% discount on almost all articles in the Duty Free area of Schiphol. That was introduced when the tax exemption within the EU was rescinded.
