Your favorite Leica screw mount lens.

Frank,

I use the CV 35mm metal finder (on my IIIg, where I think it fits perfectly, better in fact than the original Leitz finder, due to its smaller size, as you have correctly mentionend) and the CV 28mm metal finder too (on both a Bessa R2 and R3M) and like them a lot. Great little pieces, and still affordable (if Leica made them, they would certainly cost a small fortune :)).

JC,

thanks for the additional pictures of your lenses. Hmm, really hard to tell the original intended use of these lenses. Since the rangefinder in Leica SM cameras did not couple to anything closer than 1m, I doubt that these lenses were originally designed to be used with SM Leicas. The version starting at 0.65m should even have a helicoil that is different (hard to tell from your photos and only to be seen on th inner parts, the exterior looks the same except for the engraving) from the 0.7m version, as the former was designed to be used with the M3 in connection with the 50mm frame (and associated goggles).

Regards,

Andy

Dark side of the moon ?

Summicrons 35 Screw mount

I copyright my picts to avoid to see next on Ebay.

Cheers

Yeaahhh...fine...no sign of BM adapter removed, no tiny hole, SM perfect..., and I am always astonished to see how many variants of a lens can exist, see the difference in lettering of the "Germany" engraving... Years ago I was struck with the idea to have ALL the variants of Elmar 90 (Fat,thin, black, chrome, vulkan...) after all it is not a rare lens, not so costly... now I have seven, but not finished at all...

;) ;) ;) ...you catch the right guy asking me my "favorite" (and not the "best to me")....

A) Elmar 10,5cm f 6,3 : gentler than a flower...

B) Summarex 8,5 cm f 1,5 : luxury more than a steel Rolex...

C) Hektor 7,3cm f 1,9 : mysterious more than a black dahlia ...!

Let me revive this thread with a picture taken with the 7.3cm/1.9 Hektor on the M8.

And this also is with M8 and Hektor 7,3 : my eldest daughter looks surprised at that strange old black thing...

(wanna try to put on also the Elmar 10,5, one day...)

Luigi, your Hektor seems to have extremely low contrast. Are the lenses clean, or is it the result of postprocessing? Do you remember at what aperture you took this shot?

It would be very interesting to see the results; most of the time one only reads second hand descriptions but no personal experience nor pictures made with this lens.

Hektor was almost wide open (2,3 or so) : my main goal was to verify if it did focus: this was, I think, my 4th or 5th picture taken with my M8...the day I finally got it from the dealer... I did not make anything to have a good process... I shot jpg in color (had not yet any SW installed on PC), all other settings untouched, then simply converted to BW in PS and reduced the size in PS. I shot my first RAWs yesterday... but not with the venerable Hektor: I plan to use it again when I'll become more expert on Lightroom... hope to do better... my Hektor, very very old (129.006) has very clear lenses (not so clear the lenses of the Elmar 10,5, that's why I do not stll dare to test it...)
