Are you kidding me............Arte di Mano sent me a $500 gift voucher due to the fact that since my post on this forum sales went up on the burgundy 1/2 case 10 fold:D:D

I looked at the Olympus VF2 and agree it looks 10x better than the Leica one, the only problem is is the one I looked at was in Silver and I wanted it in Black so I took the silver one anyway, and popped into Halfords and go myself some matching burgundy red paint so I will mask it up tonight and paint it burgundy to match the case............it will cover the Olympus logo as well so know one will no the better.:D

And now you will have a hybrid one too.

Ha ha Neil so get the Olympus VF2 but now get the eye cup for VF2.

You can get it here.

Olympus EP-9 Eyecup for VF-2 Viewfinder ShaShinKi.com - Malaysia's First & Largest Online Camera Shop!

Got mine and the VF 2; now waiting for my M 240 to arrive from Richard Caplan.

Good point that I forgot to mention. It helps keep out extraneous light, but that's me.

I like using the EVF, but not for any lens between 28 and 90. Focusing is considerably more accurate and faster using the rangefinder. And the view through the respective viewfinders is incomparable. Actually, when using the Summilux 24 I find myself focusing through the optical viewfinder, switching to the EVF for framing.

I seem to be using the EVF 95% of the time at the moment and I'm loving it. WYSIWYG framing on the M is breath of fresh air.

It's almost like you're seeing through the lens - a revelation in camera design! We could call it TTL! Wonder if it will catch on? :D;)

That is contradicting what you said before.........before you said that I would be better off getting it with the Noctilux 0.95

Adorama: Olympus Optical Viewfinder VF-2 - BLACK $169.00

That's the price I paid.

...

Yes, I got mine for the same price at Adorama last October, in anticipation.

I think the "Olympus" lettering on it will confuse some folks, and that's fine with me.

The lettering can be pretty much removed if it bothers you. Frankly the Oly lettering is very faint and difficult to make out.

Thanks, the lettering may be a bit of diversion. I don't mind people thinking I'm shooting an Olympus. :)

Do you guys leave the EVF attached all the time or do you remove it when you put your camera in the bag? I have been taking mine off each time because it seems a little bit delicate but I find it annoying to do that each time.

I often take it off as I agree it seems a little delicate after using Leica gear. The problem is you must put the protective part that fits into the slide shoe and puts a gasket in front of the now empty EVF camera socket, as Solms reminded me that this is an entry into your camera back for dust and moisture. So taking the EVF off and putting on the protictive device is a double hassel. I decided that the EVF is relatively inexpensive (the olympus one) so I'm thinking of leaving it on and when I put it into my pack, taking the long lens case and sliding it over the lens and putting the lens case top over the EVF. Seems to fit very will when using the Apo 180 f3.4 lens and protects the EVF very well.

As an aside I love the EVF with the Voigtlander 12mm lens. Amaizing what you see and not having to use one of those accessary viewfinders that approximate the final photograph is a real joy.

Neil-

When Jaap said 28-90 my first reaction was to think of my favorite all around R lens, the Vario 38-90/2.8+.

Danny-

True, the EVF is very nice when using ultra wide lenses. I use the R 15/2.8 often and it proves to be THE item which makes using the M+wide lenses a dream. The key is cycling through the view options with the Info button until you get exposure data at the bottom of the EVF view. This makes your shooting flow so easy and reactive to the scene in the EVF while getting the correct exposure.
