:lol:

Digital = battery choice :p.

M-D is my go-to camera if long battery live is a concern.

Maybe, those thousands pictures are not properly focused/exposed/framed/etc.

but I don't mind with my decades of film M, I can "preview before triggering the shutter" and done what was necessary to obtain "good in my mind pictures".

M10 is the worse and second battery is a must have, even for a day session.

M (type 240) is about 400 to 800 or more that's not bad.

M (type 262) another second winner in this area.

But sometimes you have to control the highlights. If I then go in the menu manually I'm afraid I won't save anything.

On the other hand: what is it worth to match 1000 pictures when they not properly exposed?

Try what ltc says and to control hilights press play. Just to check whether you are holding down the shutter button a bit too long causing a preview which you are not seeing.

Normaly I only use the optical rangefinder with classic metering. Camera is set to fall to sleep after 10 minutes.

For me it is 2min to sleep with auto review off. Battery lasts upwards of 800 (more if I shoot quickly otherwise spread over days or week).

I have played with 10min sleep timer but even then I would not know whether the camera has slept off (who keeps counting minutes since last shutter press). This is why only sure thing is to do a tap on shutter while lifting it up to shoot. 2 min is a long time while you are holding the camera at your eye level and anticipating shots. IMHO 10 min is unnecessary and you may still miss shots at 11th minute if you don't account for wake up time.

I’ve found if you turn off auto-review completely the battery life is almost infinite. I did a shoot with auto review off and after 650 images, the battery was at 94%. When i have auto review on (3 sec) i typically get around 400 pics before it hits around 30%.

I’d turn off auto-review and just review any images you want to check on.

That's the way I worked in the beginning. Changed it just to save energy. But couldn't find a great difference at all.
