woodda Posted April 10, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted April 10, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just a comment. A major London LAB seems to be doing a huge trade in processing today. They mentioned that photographers seem to be using film more and the food industry prefers film as the pictures are more "edible". Food industry they mean Tesco, Sainsbury etc
Advertisement Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Hi woodda, Take a look here Film being kept going by food industry. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
woodda Posted April 10, 2007 Author Share #2 Â Posted April 10, 2007 Just to clarify when I said "edible" that was their words. Â Does anybody other people have reasons for hope in film remaining for a long time?
jacksparrow Posted April 10, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted April 10, 2007 Let me put it this way, and I won't use the typical vinyl records example here: leather pants!, they are ugly, and there are only a handful of tasteless people buying/wearing them, and yet, you can still find them in quite a few stores. Film will survive! another example (maybe more serious), Automatic watches: there's no need for them after Quartz, which is easier to make, cheaper, etc. However, they're wicked cool, they have just "something"; they're around, and will stay for a loong time. just some ideas
earleygallery Posted April 10, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted April 10, 2007 Cine film is still readily available, and how long have home video cameras been around now? (OK readily available from a few specialist shops or via the internet, but still easy to get if you want it). Â A lot of pro's still use film, just going on what I see around. leicamr Posted April 22, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted April 22, 2007 Somebody recently advised me that the BBC 'Spooks' series is shot on super 16mm. Looking at the quality on TV I assumed it was digital. Just goes to show! Â Mark
