alandash Posted August 17, 2013 Share #1 Posted August 17, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does the 50mm Summitar lens need a special adaptor to accept a standard E39 filter? If so, where does one get it? I know the Summicron lens does not require it. How about the Summar and other types? My Internet search did not find one. Thanks, Alan

Thanks, Alan E39 is a standard that Leitz adopted after WWII : Summar belongs to the first generation of 50mm Leiz lenses, so was designed to accept the then standard filters for the most common lenses (Elmars 3,5 - 5 - 9 cm) , to say the well known A36 filters with securing screw. The f 1,5 lenses (Xenon - then Summarit) needed other kind of filters (varying through the years of production - see Wiki for infos).
