Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted September 3, 2013 Share #61 Posted September 3, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not my experience at all. Stephen, I know you like Luigi and so do I. But his work is not on the same planet as JNK. Sorry, I have them both in front of me right now. My Luigi case comes from my M8, then to my M9. The JNK is on my MM. It literally clicks into place around the display, around the thumbs up and the viewfinder. Precision. The Luigi is far from precise. Break in doesn't change the cut which to my eyes is sloppy at best.+
Advertisement Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Hi Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS, Take a look here Just arrived: Aged Brown Luigi Full Case with JNK Camel Goat Skin & Thumbs Up Device. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
intermediatic Posted September 4, 2013 Share #62 Posted September 4, 2013 I can't see owning a JNK/Arte di Mano case. It doesn't protect the display. Of course that makes it much easier to make the case, but what am I doing, protecting the baseplate (easily replaced) and the leatherette (relatively easily replaced). Sometimes I wonder if, given that I finally have a silver Leica, that the best case is no case. My black one rubbed at the top anyway (I didn't like that look) so even though I received many compliments for the Luigi case, I will still probably take a loss on eBay. Everyone says that they prefer the rubbing … until you get to online used prices! I am going to check out the Leica eveready case at Photovillage on Thursday although I suspect that since I won't want to use the top most of the time, we will just have a more affordable, more versatile version of the JNK/Arte di Mano. In the end it may well be that I order from Luigi again. Either that or leave it naked.

likalar Posted September 4, 2013 Share #64 Posted September 4, 2013 Nice case! It seems that full-cover cases were more common many years ago; my father had on occasion Kodak Retina Reflex, Contax, Rollei and Leica cameras all protected by full cases. His goal was full protection of the hardware, and when he decided to shoot, he never minded the ritual of unsnapping and folding back the cover, removing the cap, reversing the hood, installing the flash, etc..Then he fiddled with the meter, which also had a case. To him, just part of the loving process of taking a picture. Of course his subject was ready for a nap by then, but all was good. We grew most impatient when he used the Rollei; that beautiful brown case even had the optional leather side cover that protected the focus knob. To install a new roll of film was a real undertaking; by then the turkey was cold. I think for that reason the Rollei was rarely used. It still looks new, thanks to that case. I don't use one, but have fond memories of full cases. Larry

Break in doesn't change the cut which to my eyes is sloppy at best. I'm sorry you don't like your example. I think the JNK/Arte di Mano is a fine case, but lacks the handmade quality of my Luigi cases. The cuts on my cases are exact, the fit excellent, and the leather and finish superb, but it doesn't have that machine perfection that comes from some other suppliers. pedaes Posted September 4, 2013 Share #66 Posted September 4, 2013 .........., but it doesn't have that machine perfection that comes from some other suppliers. But it does have the screen protector which is a must have for me, not only for the great protection but also for the aesthetics it provides.

349A Posted September 4, 2013 Share #68 Posted September 4, 2013 My JNK has a screen protector. Luigi does have a more handmade look for sure. As for fit- every photo I have seen fits like mine. Play button covered etc.
yossarian123 Posted September 5, 2013 Share #69 Posted September 5, 2013 I absolutely hated the fact that Luigi's case covered the buttons on my M9. I ended up selling it within a couple of weeks and went with the standard Leica handgrip (and black Luigi strap). The Luigi cases for film M's are wonderful though. Hmm …*I loved my Luigi case for my M9. It didn't cover any buttons. I'll check out the Leica Everyday, but it sounds more and more like even the naysayers are indicating Luigi all the way. Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted September 5, 2013 Share #72 Posted September 5, 2013 Good lord. Have you ever owned an with you wee hone? Gorillales is a joke. After a year unprotected you'I said before pal try l be weeping in your soup when you see the scratches! Yes I have and that's why you put a screen protector on it but not a chunk of leather that covers all the functions. Like i said before pal try changing ISO or checking histogram with a cover on it:eek:

intermediatic Posted September 5, 2013 Share #76 Posted September 5, 2013 *trolling* Those of us with a bit of sense open the cover first. Indeed. I looked at the Ever Ready case and purchased it. It's better than I thought. If I slide the cover off, it works just like a Luigi case. The leather is not as lush. The stitching is not by hand. It is, however, less than half the price of the full Luigi case for the days in which I want a full case. It works fine as a half case. I was thinking of a black case now that I have a silver Leica. So I'm happy to have bought it, not waited any more for Luigi and so on.

intermediatic Posted September 5, 2013 Share #78 Posted September 5, 2013 Good solution, I was very impressed with it. Black will look smart. And although I got lots of complements on the Luigi case, really do I care about that? No. I'm not buying a Leica for fashion but rather as a tool. The money I spent on the M 240 is an investment in my career. I will be showing the photographs taken with it at one of the world's top museums. That's compliment enough for me.
