Documentary Slideshow

I recently completed a documentary slideshow on an interesting friend, Richard Stack. It's on my website at http://davidsellersphoto.com/RichardStack.html. It's a flash presentation best viewed with a broadband connection. I used both my Leica MP and a digital Pentax for the photos. I've attached a couple of pages from the slideshow as a preview.

Definitely an interesting and compelling subject matter. The slideshow is informative and fosters empathy. Nice work. Two observations with respect to the visual narrative, IMO the presentation could benefit from tighter editing, and while I presume the idea was to let Richard speak with his own voice (the written notes are a nice personal touch), in some instances the images appear to be too reliant on words to make their point.

Thank you Brent and Conrad for taking the time to view the slideshow and for the comments.

Conrad, I think you make some very useful observations and I will consider them when I revise the project in the future. I originally conceived this to be presented in a book format, and the page layout may be more appropriate than a slideshow. Some of the images work best when paired as opposing pages. I also have been thinking about a DVD presentation using Richard's voice instead of the text.

It's a new avenue for me in my photography, and it's been a very rewarding experience. I feel like I have a good "version 1.0" of the project & want to make it better.

David - I think that would indeed work well - I should say, I was expecting to hear his voice when I first opened the slideshow. I guess you'll see as you experiment further. :)
