You'll have to forgive us Yanks from out West - for us, 20 miles is the next town, not the next country. 8^)

andybarton Posted July 29, 2006 Share #43 Posted July 29, 2006 Well - OK, Neston, then? (he said, looking at a larger scale map) - or Heswall? More or less. You'll have to forgive us Yanks from out West - for us, 20 miles is the next town, not the next country. Well, I can see the next country from my house, but I tend not to go there very often. Bob Ross Posted July 29, 2006 Share #44 Posted July 29, 2006 You mean the next ranch i guess... Down here in Texas, we have some ranches with several towns within their bordes. The King Ranch for example, which has its very own Naval Air Base, too.....
ed_oneal Posted July 29, 2006 Share #45 Posted July 29, 2006 What surprises me is how successfully they've kept the camera under wraps. If it was a car, we'd know all about it. Providing the camera starts shipping soon after Photokina, it will at least be better than the L1 which has been forever in the making and has yet to prove its mettle. Cameras are a lot smaller than cars and more easily kept out of the public eye.
marknorton Posted July 29, 2006 Share #46 Posted July 29, 2006 But also, car manufacturers rely on semi-official leaks to build up a head of steam before an official launch. I think we're being remarkably enthusiastic given the crumbs of information we've been fed so far!
adan Posted July 31, 2006 Share #47 Posted July 31, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Back on topic (M8 Sightings)..... [Leica] M8 sighted! andybarton Posted July 31, 2006 Share #48 Posted July 31, 2006 Heavens to betsy! Interesting piece though - I always thought that the Cambridge Folk Festival would make an interesting weekend... maybe it was William with the M8 ... "I've seen RD-1s enough, Tom A put the first one in my hands last photokina. I do 'know my onions', I'm editor of the Leica Society magazine here in the UK. Whereas the RD-1s are black this was silver, and rather shiny silver at that, in fact it would surprise me if part of the baseplate was plastic, especially that door" This guy may be editor of a Leica magazine in the UK, but at three grand, he must surely be mistaken
marknorton Posted August 1, 2006 Share #49 Posted August 1, 2006 Perhaps he was mistaken and it was a Digilux 2, you never know what you're inhaling at these sort of events...
