M type 240 much better than film?

How far has a camera like the M type 240 advanced image quality over that obtainable with film? The detail captured by the current sensor and its processing components is presumably much greater than that captured by a good film such as FP4. Where would a film like FP4 rate on the megapixel scale? The type 240 is 24, would FP4 film be somewhere like 6? It would be interesting to know if there is film out there capable of recording greater detail than the type 240.

In a purely technical sense film has been surpassed by digital years ago. In an esthetic sense it is a simple matter of preference. Different media. Irrelevant question imo.

It is possible that low speed films like Rollei ATP 1.1 or Adox can come close or even surpass the resolution of 24mp.

See the following link:

But they are rated 20 or 32 ISO films and are therefore very restrictive in application. I find also challenging to expose them correctly and have good results, even whit their dedicated developers.

Digital can combine both, high resolution and high ISO. Not possible with film.

For what it's worth, here is an old digital vs. film comparison from January, 2003: 11 megapixel Canon 1Ds vs. 6x7 medium format Fuji Velvia slide film: Shootout

The author even did an expensive drum scan of the film (toward the bottom of the page). Note also the quote from photographer Melvin Sokolsky. So one can guess how the 24mp M 240 might compare 10 years later.
