Advertisement Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Hi Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS, Take a look here My new case just arrived. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Yarosuav Posted August 2, 2013 Share #62 Posted August 2, 2013 Neil, I've had the exact same case for a few months now on my M (different color though - very dark deep green, almost black) and love it. It's really well made and very sturdy. Provides a nice grip and makes the camera a bit taller which makes it feel great in the hand (mine a least). Don't care about the tripod mount, never use it. The only issue (just because I'm lazy) is that you have to take it off to take the card / battery out. But I guess that's true for most cases... Dont listen to the nay-sayers and enjoy it. Cheers! satureyes Posted August 3, 2013 Share #64 Posted August 3, 2013 Nah, I've already seen too many Chinese wearing a Leica as a fashion brand in Hong Kong and Shanghai...no reason to add my wife to the mix. You could wear your wife as a fashion accessory.
satureyes Posted August 3, 2013 Share #65 Posted August 3, 2013 I feel the same way as Neil. I like the Luigi cases and have 3 of them with the attached LCD protectors but found that I frequently inadvertently pressed buttons on the back through the back flap just by grabbing the camera while dangling on my neck and going to a shooting position. At times, I realized my settings changed from these occurrences. Just received 3 cases from Arte di Mano. The fit and finish of the Arte di Mano cases are a cut above the ones from Luigi. I don't worry much about the LCD as the M9P and MM both have sapphire crystal and I can get a clear protector for the M240 if I so choose. Now, I'm more cognizant about avoiding the buttons on the back. I wouldn't bother using the tripod attachment on the cases. Use a RRS base with L bracket instead to give a much more robust attachment to your tripod. I have actually tried to press buttons through the back panel of my luigi case and can't. It's nicely thick but not too thick.
Peter H Posted August 3, 2013 Share #66 Posted August 3, 2013 A grip gives superior grip. A full case gives superior protection. So why do you like half-cases that substantially increase the bulk of the camera without doing anything very well?

It looks awful, tbh ! i showed it to my dogs - they did not like the colour, they said But then, dogs are mostly colour-blind...

marknorton Posted August 3, 2013 Share #71 Posted August 3, 2013 I wonder how much this case cost? With apologies to Abraham Lincoln or Mark Twain or whoever it was... "Better to remain silent about the cost of your half-case and be thought a fool than to reveal it and remove all doubt" Seriously, there are two opposing camps here. One the one hand we have those who like to be discreet, remove their red dots and white lettering and who probably don't like to have to remove the baseplate to get at the battery. On the other, we have those who like to bling up their camera and draw attention to it (just what you need in Naples, Palermo and Barcelona) and positively relish the ritual undressing of their camera from its case to get at the battery. As I say, each to his own. I wonder if the OP has explored the options for returning the case because of the ridicule it will attract from serious photographers? So having a case or not having a case makes the no case person a more serious photographer...............never heard so much bull shit in all my life..................get a life pal
Paul J Posted August 3, 2013 Share #73 Posted August 3, 2013 Serious photographer? Ridicule? Please. Get your head out of your arse. (emphasis on the smiley here it's a joke) I just wonder why it bothers people so much what people do to their camera's? Unless anyone uses a completely stock and naked M on this forum then people cry heresy and throw around words like Ghastly. How bloody boring. Sometimes it's not about drawing attention; Sometimes it's just adding to it, or doing things that you like to it so that you like it more. What is so wrong with that? I could care less what anyone thinks about my camera, attention to it or not. If you really feel it necessary to ridicule someone for it then it says more about you and how you fear others opinions. A "serious" photographer, as you say won't even be looking at the damn camera anyway. Lighten up! :D
marknorton Posted August 3, 2013 Share #74 Posted August 3, 2013 All said very much tongue in cheek. Did the OP seriously expect us all to coo with delight at his purchase?

Did the OP seriously expect us all to coo with delight at his purchase? No i did not but I didn't expect people that I have never met before start taking the piss out of me while they were hiding behind there computer screens.......................I would have liked to have herad some of these comments to my face.Anyway I like my case and I really dont give a F%$# if some of the subscribers to this thread dont like it or whatever......................... Paul J Posted August 3, 2013 Share #76 Posted August 3, 2013 If you are really happy enough to spend your life reading about things you don't like, then hey, who am I to stop you. If you're so happy in the thought of ridiculing people for something as pedestrian as a camera case then good for you and good luck with that. Peter H Posted August 3, 2013 Share #78 Posted August 3, 2013 Good grief, there are enough thin skins around today to make as many half-cases as you could wish for.
