earleygallery Posted November 30, 2007 Share #21 Posted November 30, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought a 9cm f4 Elmar for my M2 as I was going to the Goodwood Revival, and wanted something period. I was pleasantly surprised by the results from it. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! jc_braconi Posted November 30, 2007 Share #22 Posted November 30, 2007 Hello, for the lightweight the Elmar 4:90 3 element is the best one. if you can find an Elmarit 2.8 90 or a Summicron 2 : 90 you will have a faster but heavier lens and not better than the 3 element. luigi bertolotti Posted November 30, 2007 Share #23 Posted November 30, 2007 ... JC, I see with pleasure that I'm not the only person who likes to have lot of variants of a single lens... ... but...I DON'T SEE THE "FAT" !!! (and appreciate the "all-chrome...") luigi bertolotti Posted November 30, 2007 Share #24 Posted November 30, 2007 Luigi,Interesting that you mention the Thambar. I have an excellently preserved one with the close focus ring (used for copying ?) and have tried it out on slide film. On the M8 it yields interesting results as well, although it needs quite a bit of experimentation in my experience. The results are not really predictable, as far as I can determine. I have also have a special Rodenstock Imagon for the Visoflex which I have not yet tried on the M8. Do you have much experience using Thambar or Imagon on the M8? Teddy I' didn't yet DARE to test Thambar on M8... someday I'll sure do it...(my one is UNCOUPLED... strange version... so I have to use the add-on old FOKOS )
