earleygallery Posted July 26, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 26, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am putting a wedding album together and when I used film I'd usually get 8X6" prints made. As far as I know, digital photo paper only comes in 6X4 and 5X7 'traditional' print sizes, otherwise it's A4, A3 or larger/rolls. If I want to print 8X6" at home, is the only option to print on an A4 sheet and trim it down? I guess I could use a bigger print size but I personally think that 8X6" is a good size on a traditional style album page (and will fit in portrait or landscape format). Thoughts, ideas and suggestions welcome.

Jeff S Posted July 26, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 26, 2013 This company offers some odd sizes, including 6x8, although I haven't used their products. Various companies also stock cards in 6x8 size. One needs to be careful, however, about printer compatibility with these smaller sizes. Some printers don't like them (skewing, etc.), so it's good to understand the printer setting options...border or borderless, centering, feed options, etc...to be sure. I prefer to use standard 8.5x11 US size paper and trim to suit, particularly since the ideal rendering of some pics may require a slightly different aspect ratio. But this approach may not be suitable for a wedding album, which might benefit from uniformity. Jeff
Guest WPalank Posted July 26, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 26, 2013 Another option is to buy the paper you want as close to the ideal size. Then find a print house that has a nice paper cutter and have them cut it to size for you This happened to me as my portfolio book is an odd size and the paper manufacturer I use does not produce this size paper. They asked only $10 for about 50 sheets (really nice paper though) and the machine they used was accurate to the nano. You also must make sure that the software you are printing through allows you to create a custom sheet or canvas. In ImagePrint., very simple. My Printer has no problem with the custom size. earleygallery Posted August 12, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted August 12, 2013 Snappy Snaps to the rescue again - they print at 8X6 and better still, FF 9X6. I had some test prints made yesterday and the quality is fine, colour match is very close too and the price is nice!
