CalArts 99 Posted July 25, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 25, 2013 I imagine that your very handsome X2 will never be asking my X2 out for a date. This one comes from the other side of the railroad tracks. But it does make me wonder what sort of child they might produce if they ever did get together... Welcome, dear visitor! Lee Martin Posted July 25, 2013 Share #5 Posted July 25, 2013 Seems a shame that the original Leica one isnt good quality leather to star with at those prices . Lovely effect with the new skin on though

aesop Posted July 25, 2013 Share #8 Posted July 25, 2013 Must be a different crowd here - I nearly got lynched when I put grey lizard on my MM.... ...we're (just about) holding back, Jaap. I am familiar with Ferry's work, and can thus only describe the lizard skin 'enhancement' as baffling. Each to their own, I guess - and ultimately, if it inspires new Leica purchases, then it is good news.

Anyway, my Lizard has been removed, not because of Forum opinion, but because my wife had a "poor little Lizard" thing going. It is a rather boring Cameraleather Granite Grey now..... CalArts 99 Posted July 25, 2013 Share #11 Posted July 25, 2013 Although I'm personally not interested in having any reptile or rodent or animal skin for my X2, it's nice to see that the original skin comes off so easily. I think that I might go completely skinless and attach a couple of strips of griptac on key spots of the camera for better handling. The X2 is a nice looking design overall, but it's horribly non-ergonomic. 'Form follows function' was clearly not part of the original design..... madNbad Posted July 26, 2013 Share #12 Posted July 26, 2013 Just a side note, no griptacs' were harmed when I recovered my IIIc.

Presumably that comes cheap considering the number that are consumed for food, or you could have put your recent furry friend to good use
jaapv Posted July 30, 2013 Share #14 Posted July 30, 2013 Rabbit fur for a bunny-hugger? Sir!:mad:Noflexars at twenty paces at dawn. I will send my seconds.
SJP Posted July 30, 2013 Share #15 Posted July 30, 2013 I was referring to the persistent semi drowned mouse like animal of course that entered your house or at least would not leave, not your pet rabbit (assuming you have one, then apologies). Anyway in this context (slightly) I gathered that Goose and Goat are very popular in the professional kitchens nowadays. Both are abundant and unwanted at supermarkets etc. (a whole wild goose is 2½ euro wholesale, plenty to feed about 6 people). I haven't managed to find a supplier for goose yet at such prices yet but luckilly I have a local Maroccan butcher/grocer that sells goats meat. Highly recommended! If you like lamb than you will like goat. If we do not eat them then they will be turned into 'protein' and if anything that is one of the things I really do not like. If we decide that animals should die then at least treat them with the respect they deserve. Anyway back to topic - is a fur skin an option? Soft grip and soft release = marriage in heaven:D
NikonJeff Posted August 1, 2013 Share #16 Posted August 1, 2013 Nicely done! I reskinned my chrome M8 using one of CameraLeather's Cobalt Blue Kid Skins - loved the uniqueness of having your own special covering!

'Form follows function' was clearly not part of the original design..... they knew that when they designed it...thats why they offer a grip as an accessory. I got one and it makes a huge improvement. My leather is starting to peel though...my first digital camera ever to do that. Maybe the original was indeed 'snakeskin' or something:)
CalArts 99 Posted August 1, 2013 Share #19 Posted August 1, 2013 they knew that when they designed it...thats why they offer a grip as an accessory. I got one and it makes a huge improvement. My leather is starting to peel though...my first digital camera ever to do that. Maybe the original was indeed 'snakeskin' or something:) I had also bought that overpriced Leica grip but ended up hating to have to unscrew it and take it off every time I needed to access the card and battery. So I sold the Leica grip and instead made my own grip out of some black https://sugru.com/about. It may be ugly but it conforms precisely to my fingers since I used my hand as the mold. Plus my fingerprints are embedded in it for future security. Once I peel off the original fake snakeskin and add some strategically placed griptac strips, it'll be perfect.
