hjsesq Posted April 8, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 8, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have attempted to update my firmware from 1.09 to 1.092 carefully following the directions given by Leica. However, when I turn the camera on with the card containing the new firmware nothing occurs to cause an update. Have a fully charged battery. Tried it on several occasions with the same resule. Any suggestions? Thanks, Harris
Advertisement Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Hi hjsesq, Take a look here Firmware Update. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Scott Gregory Posted April 8, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 8, 2007 I ran into the same problem two days ago when I tried the update. Played around with it and you have to unzip the .upd file and make sure the unzipped file is on your SD card. Once you put it in the camera it asks then, if you want to update the firmware and you then say "yes"
Bill W Posted April 8, 2007 Share #3 Posted April 8, 2007 The file must be in the "root" directory of the sd card as well or nothing will happen.
hjsesq Posted April 8, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted April 8, 2007 I did unzip it - when I unzipped the file I got the following m8_1_092upd. And with this on the card it would not update the firmware. Is there anything else I should have done with the file? Thanks, Harris
hjsesq Posted April 8, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted April 8, 2007 I did put it in the root directory.
Shootist Posted April 8, 2007 Share #6 Posted April 8, 2007 I did unzip it - when I unzipped the file I got the following m8_1_092upd. And with this on the card it would not update the firmware. Is there anything else I should have done with the file? Thanks, Harris Did you place that file in the ROOT of the card? IE not in any folder. Are you using a fully charged battery? If not charge the battery or insert ine that is fully charged.
spylaw4 Posted April 8, 2007 Share #7 Posted April 8, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't have M8 so I would not know for certain but it seems to me that as you quote the file name it lacks a file extension - should it not be .upd? chetccox Posted April 8, 2007 Share #8 Posted April 8, 2007 It was only a few days ago that you posted that you had a 4gb sdhc card that worked for a while and then stopped. I don't believe this because sdhc cards do not work in the M8. In any event, if this is the card you are still trying to use it simply will not work!! If you have otherwise followed the instructions and have a non-sdhc card, it will work. If it doesn't, you didn't follow them.
hjsesq Posted April 8, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted April 8, 2007 I finally got it. I had formated a 2 gig Transend card in the camera and had a fully charged battery. Mistakenly I thought the DCIM folder was the root directory. Just realized my mistake and just successfully updated the firmware. I guess that when you pass the 70 mark, it takes a little longer for things to sink in. Thanks for all the help. It is really great to have all of you around for assistance. :) :) Harris
