MFT Adapter?

I'm going to experiment with an Olympus E-P5 as a potential emergency backup for M (240) for a trip in September. I'm going to need an adapter for M lenses to MFT. There appear to be scores of these available, ranging in price from $15 to $250 or more (Novoflex). Has anyone had experience with any of these sufficient to form an opinion, good or bad?

 

I know "you get what you pay for", and I have used Novoflex for their R to M and Nikon to M, but this is going to be very occasional use and "competent" is what I am after.

I have a Rainbow Imaging adapter that I used when I had a micro four thirds camera. It did it's job. Some reports said the mount is loose but I didn't see any issue with mine. Another one of my friends picked up the same adapter to use zeiss m mount lenses on his MFT and its fine too.

I use a Rainbow Imaging adapter and it is snug and works fine.

Hi Alan. I picked up a Voigtlander M to MFT adapter on ebay LNIB for $90, about half of what they sell for new. I've been using it on the OMD while I wait for the M. The build quality seems excellent. You can probably find one on FM or the M-43 forum for about the same price.

I have a Metabones L/M to m4/3 adapter. It seems to be of good quality, fits snugly and does not wobble. In the UK they cost about £65 but I got mine second hand for £35. I checked the new price in USA at $89.

A lot of them are the same adapter re-badged. I have a Rayqual adapter that is the same as the Camerquest adapter, although at a considerably cheaper price. The Rayqual is excellent quality.

Mine are from Rainbow Imaging. They do the job.

 

The key difference between the expensive adapters (most of them at least) and the cheaper ones are how tension is applied at the mount. My Rainbow imaging ones have slats in the mount that are bent to apply pressure and eliminate wobble. After much use, I use a small flat head screwdriver to bend them back a little if I notice some play in the adapter.

 

The metabones don't use bent slats but leaf springs of sorts. A better design.

I use Panasonic Leica M mount adapter.

It's working very well. But, image results don't like a Leica M camera. You can see more sample on my Flickr page:

My coworker has a rainbow Imaging adapter, Played once and I am thinking of getting one.

I have Kipon and Novoflex adapters.

Kipon work just fine.

However, the Novoflex adapters are the only ones accurate enough that you could focus an R lens with one camera, switch adapters and camera, and have the lens still in focus when mounting an M9.
