I have been shooting the x vario for two weeks and am very happy with the results I've had thus far. Yesterday the XV suddenly displayed a green line on the left 1/8 th of the view finder (olympus Ev-2) and shots had a blue saturation! I turned the camera off and the issue disappeared. Any ideas out there? Do I have a defective sensor? Has anyone else run into this problem? Your help is much appreciated.

Unfortunately I didn't import the images and have cleared the SD card. Perhaps the issue is with the Olympus EVF (hopefully). I will be out shooting again today and will post images if I experience the problem again. My first Leica was the Digilux 2 that suffered from sensor issues (green line, etc) so when this happened yesterday I think I had an unhappy flashback. I would still like to know if I am alone or if anyone else has seen this issue with the X vario or the Olympus VF-2.

I've had mine for two weeks as well. Took it on vacation and was generally pleased with the outcome. I am, however, disappointed in the autofocus when shooting inside. In a well lit room I had trouble getting it to lock on focus on my sleeping grandchild. I wasn't too close, but it would only achieve focus about 50% of the time. Otherwise the results were very good. I hope a firmware update will improve the focusing problem. My X100 is much better today than when I first purchased it.

I love the weight and balance of the camera. It is much easier to hold than the very small d-lux, at least for a 62 year old.

I was out shooting again yesterday and believe the issue I experienced is either the olympus vf-2 or the XV's output to the viewfinder. On two occasions while shooting when I raised the viewfinder to my eye, I was confronted with a completely green screen. Does anyone know if this is indicative of the VF "locking up" or if it may be a compatibility issue? Cycling the camera off then on cleared the issue.

Again, all advice is appreciated.

Might be worth trying another EVF and see if you can replicate the problem. If doesn't occur with another VF then maybe yours is faulty. Did you buy locally? If so try a demo finder if one is available. I use an Olympus EVF with my XV and have not experienced any problems. Probably need to eliminate all possible causes so can you visit a Leica dealer and try a Leica EVF ?

Next time it happens you could try accessing the EVF colour settings via the menu and check the cursor setting to see if it has 'slipped'.

Do you use the camera without the EVF attached? If not, maybe try it for a while without the EVF to see if the monitor turns green. If it does, then something's amiss in the camera.

Sounds like a one time glitch caused by a dislodged or improperly inserted evf not pushed all the way in. Pastor chuck, for indoors, or low light photography at close range, switch to manual focus or turn on the autofocus assist led in the XV menu.
