mikeleng Posted July 11, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 11, 2013 Very Well done, is that the closest you can get at the 70mm end ? Regards Mike
euston Posted July 11, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted July 11, 2013 Karl, Mike, thanks very much for your comments. Yes, Mike, I think I was almost but not quite as close as possible which is 30cm (1ft) at the 70mm end of the zoom. The final picture was cropped to about half the complete frame. It stood up quite well to this treatment. Exposure details are 1/125 at f/8, ISO 100, -1 EV
pauledell Posted July 11, 2013 Share #5 Posted July 11, 2013 Euston, A beautiful picture with great colors, crisp sharpness and composition. Your X-Vario looks like a real deal in a camera. I have been impressed by the results I've seen so far. Paul
euston Posted July 11, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted July 11, 2013 Thank you, Paul. It's a much better camera than its spec sheet might suggest. I like using it and I like the image quality it produces when I get things right. I didn't take seriously Leica's silly Mini M marketing tease so I haven't suffered the disappointment which appears to have coloured some people's opinion of the camera. mikeleng Posted July 12, 2013 Share #8 Posted July 12, 2013 Euston, do you think it would take a close up filter, similar to my elpro d on the Digilux 2 regards mike

euston Posted July 12, 2013 Author Share #10 Posted July 12, 2013 Stuart, Mike, Hugh, thank you! Mike, I believe your problem may be getting the lens fitted to the 43mm filter ring of the X Vario. It’s not something I know about but Dunk (dkpeterborough) has a close up set-up he has used for photographing coins. See his post at http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-x1-forum/290328-q-d-coin-photography-x-vario.html You could send him a message to see if he can advise you. mikeleng Posted July 13, 2013 Share #12 Posted July 13, 2013 Thank you Euston, quite a few extension rings on there to get the desired macro effect . I think I'll stick with my Digilux 2 and the elpro D, till something better comes along . Regards Mike
