There is no need to tell people "Don't point your gun at anybody unless you mean to kill them" because as the National Rifle Association puts it "When guns are illegal, only criminals will have guns". Neither do people realize how dangerous it is to stare down the barrel of a gun, indeed one of the first things most people do when handed a gun is to do just that! I would wager that – excluding the military – about 90% of Britons have never held a firearm as opposed to air-rifles. My more right-wing American friends consider that I lead a deprived life in this respect. When visiting them they select a gun from their well stocked arsenals and insist that I fire it.
