AlanG Posted July 2, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted July 2, 2013 I give it a month at most to catch on, less than that if it's eaten. Steve Testing has shown the design to be quite robust. It still flies very well despite significant damage. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! 250swb Posted July 2, 2013 Share #6 Posted July 2, 2013 To its credit it does exhibit the 'keep away, I'm poisonous' colour scheme so I guess it may not attract predators, but will it attract mates before the batteries run out, and how useful is a camera you can only use for two weeks every year? Come to think of it, many M users may only get two weeks use out of it this year, so the butterfly cam may be a serious alternative. Steve
AlanG Posted July 2, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted July 2, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Mating features will require optional accessories. A firmware upgrade is being tested for that but so far it has been pretty buggy. The Tiger Swallowtail derived versions are good for about 6 months of continuous service. zlatkob Posted July 7, 2013 Share #8 Posted July 7, 2013 I hope it has image stabilization. Camera shake could be a problem.
AlanG Posted July 11, 2013 Author Share #9 Posted July 11, 2013 I hope it has image stabilization. Camera shake could be a problem. That is a very tiny brushless gimbal. BTW, Quaternium has developed a very small and light 3 axis brushless gimbal for a GoPro. It will sell for $650 and should be available in about a month. This could be mounted onto something or used handheld. Spidex Quatricoptero
