Guest borge Posted July 1, 2013 Share #41 Posted July 1, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've dropped all programs that do not support DNG. I don't think you would have any regrets leaving Aperture for LR5. Tina Aperture supports dng. Just not the dng data format that the Monochrom uses (linear). Dng isn't a data format. It's a file container that supports a myriad of data formats. Even though an application supports opening "dng" files doesn't mean that the application needs to understand the data format within the dng container. nikau Posted July 1, 2013 Share #42 Posted July 1, 2013 I bought a Monochrom last year and like it so much I'd (almost) get rid of all my other cameras and just have it and, say, a D-Lux 6 or Vario.
IkarusJohn Posted July 1, 2013 Share #43 Posted July 1, 2013 I've just returned from a photography weekend - lots of nature and wildlife. I took my Moonochrom, M9 & 21-28-50-75-90, and a tripod. Who would use a B&W camera for wildlife? Well, I took a few pictures with my M9, but the images from the M9 I really liked, I converted to B&W. Go figure. I simply love my Monochrom. ashwinrao1 Posted July 1, 2013 Share #44 Posted July 1, 2013 No regrets whatsoever after 10 months of regular use. Best camera I have owned, to date...IQ and file flexibility are unparalleled IMO
jbuchow Posted July 1, 2013 Share #45 Posted July 1, 2013 None whatsoever. My favorite camera. As many have said, using this camera has made me uninterested in buying any others (for now at least!).

sydkugelmass Posted July 1, 2013 Share #48 Posted July 1, 2013 No regrets at all. First and only choice to exploit the beauty of ZM Biogon 21mm/f4,5 and of ZM Distagon 15mm/f2,8. I use the MM with the Universal finder and love them working together. Great great camera.

Guest Gilgamesh Posted July 1, 2013 Share #50 Posted July 1, 2013 The MM is really such a joy to use. I took about 400 pictures at my brother-in-law's wedding a week ago and the quality of the photos have blown everyone away. Erik In all my 600+ weddings, trust me when I tell you the great unwashed have not the first idea nor the faintest interest in such things, "quality". What is "quality"? You are a good photographer, they are commenting on your images, not the "quality", that's geek talk for all the stuff you and I are consumed with here, and not the pure picture. You would be wrong to assume that because you own an X or a Y camera with an ABC lens, that anyone is in the least bit interested in pixels and bokeh, they just aren't (unless they too are geeks like us). They just want good pictures and hang the technical jazz because that's zzzzzzzz to all but the inner circle.

Guest borge Posted July 2, 2013 Share #54 Posted July 2, 2013 Anyone ever tried a 0.95 Noctilux with there MM Thorsten Overgaard has posted a whole lot of shots with his MM + 0.95 Nocti: leica.overgaard.dk - Thorsten Overgaard's Leica Pages - Leica M Monochrom Henri Digital Rangefinder Camera - Page 21: "Three Months and 10,000 Frames With Henri" + Many photographs with that combination on Facebook as well. I think he used that combination for quite a while until he got an M240. Search for the "Leica M Monochrom User Group" on Facebook to see many shots with that combination (and others as well of course).
ldhrads Posted July 2, 2013 Share #55 Posted July 2, 2013 None, Only that I'm frustrated that I haven't been using it enough! I've really only shot mine so far with my 50/2 v4, I tried my 75/1.4 over the weekend then a bad battery died and I was stuck with a paperweight:mad: I swapped a M7 plus a load of cash for this and am exceptionally happy with it. sm23221 Posted July 2, 2013 Author Share #56 Posted July 2, 2013 I received mine today. It became unresponsive after the second shot. Having extensive experience with my M9, I removed the battery and all was ok again. Froze up a second time and repeated the same procedure. It's not a big deal for me but I can't imagine how a new user would feel after spending $8,000. Just sayin...
jaapv Posted July 2, 2013 Share #57 Posted July 2, 2013 Format the card in the camera. You probably slid one in that was formatted in another camera.
sm23221 Posted July 3, 2013 Author Share #58 Posted July 3, 2013 I did use it with my M9 but made certain to format it for the MM. Seems to still be behaving so far.
IkarusJohn Posted July 3, 2013 Share #59 Posted July 3, 2013 Who would use a B&W camera for wildlife? What a bunch of smart asses. The question was rhetorical. There is a side to this forum that is tiresome in the extreme. I don't mean to get at anyone in particular; it's just a general comment that no opportunity to nitpick is missed. Never mind the context, or what the clear intent of a post is - every error or point scoring moment is seized with glee. It's such a drag.
Guest WPalank Posted July 3, 2013 Share #60 Posted July 3, 2013 Absolutely no regrets. I constantly suggest to Leica owners that are happy with their M9 or 9P who are thinking about the M240 path, to get a Monochrom instead.
