ldhrads Posted June 28, 2013 Share #1 Posted June 28, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) My MM power switch isn't "snappy" like the one on my M9. It's sluggish to turn on and doesn't quite find the first detent quite right and turning off is the same. I've only had it a few weeks. Should I give it some time to break in or send it in for service? Lawrence Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Advertisement Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Hi ldhrads, Take a look here MM power switch. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Gerard Posted June 29, 2013 Share #2 Posted June 29, 2013 The tighter the better for me. Loose power switches = a load of blank frames and a dead battery as your camera starts firing the shutter while it's in your bag.
jaapv Posted June 29, 2013 Share #3 Posted June 29, 2013 Of course you can have Leica adjust it, personally I would wait a bit to see if it runs in, as you say. Your decision.
fotografr Posted June 29, 2013 Share #4 Posted June 29, 2013 Mine is the same. It's about the only complaint I have with the camera.
ldhrads Posted July 1, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted July 1, 2013 It's back to how it was originally now after a disappointing day walking around Denver. Battery died after 60 shots! It was fresh that morning. It must be one of the older ones i have from my M9, but still.... As for the power switch/shutter, it just felt that something inside was binding, now it's back to original. I love this camera, only complaint I have is that I have it set to Auto Review "release button pressed" so it should hold the image until I let go of the shutter ( that's how my M9 works) but instead I have to remember to push the shutter again to turn the review off. I'm sure it's a firmware issue.....I just upgraded firmware and it didn't seem to make a difference though.
MichaelRabern Posted August 2, 2013 Share #6 Posted August 2, 2013 Not to resurrect the issue, however I am to having an issue. I don't recall a bump or event , but I doubt it was spontaneous. --The problem is my power switch suddenly began to bind.-- The resistant is very tight on the onset to turn on into the single setting on then it binds in between settings or "breaks free" into the timer setting. I have taken to turning timer on "off" just in case and in general use leaving the power setting on continues. I am curious before I call NJ Is there a home remedy? (I have my camera set to sleep very soon and have no complaints on battery life. I usually have several batteries up and ready to go in which I serialize and cycle them through use. So I am not to worried about anything more than the switch. )
Photoskeptic Posted August 3, 2013 Share #7 Posted August 3, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have found all the power switches on Leica digital M cameras to be the same. There were complaints right away when the M8 was released. Leica said they would tighten them up. In my experience this never happened. I haven't used the new M model, but I have used everything up to it and have seen no change. You just learn to deal with it.
ldhrads Posted August 16, 2013 Author Share #8 Posted August 16, 2013 My power switch worsened, and it was intermittent, so after my recent trip, I sent it to NJ last week. Spoke to Carmen today and it is on it's way back, should have it by Tuesday. Switch repaired, sensor cleaned, meter checked, rangefinder tweaked. I'm loving this camera so I'm looking forward to having it back. And Carmen, well she is a gem! Mike, Take care of the problem now while it's under warranty!
