akiralx Posted June 28, 2013 Share #2 Posted June 28, 2013 Contact Leica, sensor to be remapped I think.
tobey bilek Posted June 28, 2013 Share #3 Posted June 28, 2013 Screen shows a JPEG image which either maps it out or disguises it or compresses so it can not be seen. You can have Leica map it out or have photoshop do it. Definitely send it in if it is under warrantee. Out of warrantee, you decide. I would wait until there are more and I get tired of fixing them or something else goes wrong. Leica has top notch lenses, the only RF camera going, but the electronics are three generations back, slow and buggy.
Shade Posted June 28, 2013 Share #4 Posted June 28, 2013 Leica has top notch lenses, the only RF camera going, but the electronics are three generations back, slow and buggy. I would agree to that, except I'm not sure about 3 generations back. LOL
dic2arol Posted June 28, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted June 28, 2013 Thank you for your comments, I would adopt, but one more question: my m9p still warrantee, is this problem is very serious? mapping can thorough to solve this problem? I am very contradictory, because I do not want to miss the opportunity to replace the sensor
jaapv Posted June 28, 2013 Share #6 Posted June 28, 2013 Most users with this problem have reported that the repair was free of charge even if out of guaranty. It has nothing to do with the generations of electronics, it is simply cosmic radiation damage and can occur on any sensor. Normally the sensor will just be remapped, only if the remapping, added to the sensor mapping that was done when the camera was built, exceeds a certain tolerance will the sensor be replaced. vdb Posted June 28, 2013 Share #7 Posted June 28, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Every one of my digital Ms has developed this...some more than once...including my MM recently. Always free and quick re-map...once the sensor was replaced also free. Turnaround time for my MM recently was 5 days.
SoarFM Posted June 28, 2013 Share #8 Posted June 28, 2013 Happened to me once. Out of warranty. I paid for it, I forget how much but it wasn't free, they also gave it a general checkup and RF adjustment for the same general fee. But at least I didn't make the giant mistake of buying an M240 that Lord Bridges http://diglloyd.com/blog/2013/20130628_1-LeicaM240-lockup.html has deemed a piece of erratic, unreliable junk. I think I'm going to send him an offer of $4000 to take that load of junk off his hands....

shrooman Posted June 30, 2013 Share #12 Posted June 30, 2013 Had this exact issue 7 months ago on a "new" M9 out of the box at high ISO. Returned it promptly. This is a known issue with early M9's I am told, but rather rare. B&H took it right back and refunded me promptly. B&H is excellent for that reason. Found another new M9 elsewhere and it has been amazing.

blueweed Posted July 22, 2013 Share #14 Posted July 22, 2013 I got that same line as well as previously reported on my m240 at higher iso. I really dont understand why this problem presist on both CMOS and CCD models. Someone in Leica needs to seriously look into this problem.

Leica should get the Universe to switch off cosmic radiation.
christianpsu Posted July 22, 2013 Share #17 Posted July 22, 2013 The original post mentioned this happened on a relatively "high" ISO. for me, it was across all pictures regardless of ISO (even on low ISO such as 200). teardrop again.....
Marac Posted July 22, 2013 Share #18 Posted July 22, 2013 This happened on my old faithful M8 I thought about sending it back etc etc then I just let lightroom map it out.. One day, I noticed it had completely gone, vanished, even direct from camera the strange red line was simply NOT THERE! Still to this day it works faultlessly. So I guess its another vote for the Cosmic Radiation because I have no other explanation. Like a crazed fool I tried cleaning the sensor a million times so maybe the prolonged use of the sensor shifted it.. Anyway, I wish you all the best getting it sorted, Leica will deal with you nicely Im sure.
